1st Manned SpaceX flight

Just over a minute …

Amazing lift-off with a very fiery first stage - now approaching 15000 km/h … :!:

First stage returned and landed … incredible … :!:

2nd stage gone …

19 hours to docking - helmets are up - crew will take driving test later …

Thanks for that link Baz, absolutely amazing…We was with them…Congratulations NASA :038::038::038:

YIPPIE. THEY DID IT A perfect launch ! For the 1st time in the history of space flight a 1st stage has re-landed, completely upright on a drone ship at sea.
The crew is now in orbit. (I can’t believe how much adrenaline is pumping thru my body. God, I’m so excited)
19 hours before they will dock with the international space station. But, first they will be required to sleep for 8 hours. How can they sleep ? I sure could not and I’m only sitting here safely in my living room. yippie, yippie, yippie.:-D:-D:-D:-D

:023: You are welcome OGF, brilliant wasn’t it! Amazing what the technology can do now,
such clear pictures!

There are also views of earth from the international space station on that website so probably worth bookmarking.

Thanks for the link Bazz, it was amazing to watch…

:023: You are welcome Mags, brilliant to watch wasn’t it!

It certainly is Baz, a lot better than ten seconds on the BBC news in the morning…It makes it very interesting and exciting following their progress…

Lifted off from launch pad that took Apollo 11 to the moon.

It must be quite frightening to be sat on top of probably the most powerful engine in the world, and it’s fuel…

Even worse if they could look down from about 250 miles up, probably as well they couldn’t!

The landing of the other stage that was jettisoned was also very clever. I think that touched down on a ship exactly inside the yellow circle marked on the deck – amazing how it was all done!

Just seen it on the horizon coming from south west. Yay

Me too, about 20 degrees above SW horizon going away from me
Going easterly, orangy colour!
Great stuff!!

 Donkeyman!

Hurley and Behnken are set to arrive at the ISS on Sunday.

They’ll use some of the intervening hours to test equipment and procedures in their capsule, including doing some manual flying.

Although the Dragon capsule is a fully automated vehicle capable of finding its own way to the ISS, the crew needs to prepare for all eventualities and that means knowing exactly how the ship will behave in their hands.

Uniquely, the Dragon has no control stick; all flight commands must be entered via a touchscreen panel.

Everything about the ship and equipment is 21st Century …

I watched it on there too…brilliant. Thankyou Baz

:023: You are more than welcome summer, pleased you found the link useful. It really was quite something to watch that launch wasn’t it, far better probably than is seen on TV.

There is further coverage of the docking with the ISS this afternoon on the original link I posted:
