Really pleased you posted this LD, because on my original list
for this thread is this Slade classic:
Another great song from Slade, Floydy. I think Noddy Holder had such a good distinctive voice and Dave Hill was my first guitar hero.
Thanks for that Floydy, I’ve never seen that on youtube before, but may have seen it on OGWT back in 1980 … I think it was.
Two perfect songs intrinsically connected. Here is what Wikipedia says:
“Black Dog” is built around a call and response dynamic between the vocalist and band, with its start and stop a cappella verses inspired by Fleetwood Mac’s 1969 song “Oh Well”.
John Paul Jones, who is credited with writing the main riff, was inspired by Muddy Waters’ controversial 1968 album Electric Mud. He added a winding riff and complex rhythm changes, a clever pattern that turns back on itself more than once, crossing between time signatures as it does.
Thought I’d look through the archives whilst the Northerners have their tea…
And you your coffee and cornflakes?
Nope, I’m just two hours behind.
Hope you enjoyed your breakfast and the birds singing.
It’s 4.50am here.The birds are still snoring
You should be snoring with them
We’ve been on a walk. The dog doesn’t like the summer heat so we have to go out early.
I thought it was a good plan but she likes to do it in the winter now too.
Lovely
She’s worth it.Sometimes she treats me as her equal.
