Your fingernails

What condition are yours in?
Mine have always been quite small and fairly soft, unlike my mum’s which were strong and wide.
Even when they have a rest to grow during school holidays in the summer, I can’t grow them much past this length. They start snagging or splitting layers on the ends and then I have to file them all over again.
What do you do to yours to keep them looking nice, or clean or strong?

Also I’m the only person I know with half moons on the thumb nail, index finger nail and middle finger nail but not on fourthy and pinky finger nails!!!
How weird is that?!

And… as you can see my cuticles are stubborn too and when they object to a push back sometimes they will start to peel up. Those can get painful if you don’t clip them flat.
As a child I think I would pick at them with my nails until the sides of some nails would look red raw! :flushed:

My fingernails look like a mans,:joy:

Oh @pauline3 no they don’t, really! They look large like my Mum’s were and make your hands look elegant.

It would drive me mad if I had varying sizes like that though…
If one goes they all get a chop, even if it means having short nails for a while

At least it’s good to know that I’m not the only one with large nails,:smiley:

I’ve been told many times I look elegant, until I open my mouth!..:open_mouth::open_mouth::rofl::joy:

Mine are now heavily ridged and prone to cracking and splitting along their length. I have to keep them very short as a result.

They have always been odd sizes as well both in width and length.

One hand, my left, has nails, but I keep them short, because they split very easily after years of biting them, my right hand has very badly bitten nails & my hands look very odd.
Can’t seem to stop biting them either.

I bit my nails when I was younger, and could never grow them, now I have to cut them every couple of weeks

I’m trying to grow mine, I might buy some of that hardening liquid that you paint onto the nails,:grinning:

Exactly the same for me. In fact, if it wasn’t for the fact that my front teeth are now crowned (and thus blunt) I would still be a “biter”.

My Dad had to have all his teeth out in his 50’s due to gum disease. Before that he bit his finger nails as badly as I did. After he could no longer bite his nails due to false teeth.
Guess I inherited this, but I still have most of my own teeth.

My nails are long and grow well but I don’t have slender fingers or tiny hands either. Then again my hands are very useful which is the most important thing for me.
