Absolutely not!
I love The Isle of Wight to bits!
My parents took me there as a kid and I’ve taken my son quite regularly when he was young
Just love crossing The Solent!
I’ve always fancied moving over there, ain’t going to happen ![]()

I used to have a workmate in the UK who’s sole overseas experience was being stationed on the Isle of Wight when he did his national service.
Don’t think I have ever been there myself.
Another UK jaunt coming on Bruce?
Although the Isle of Wight is just across the water from me, I rarely go there as the ferry fares are way too expensive. That said, this year was an exception as I was shooting a wedding there, which turned into an extended weekend travelling all over. Although quicker and easier for us to travel from Portsmouth, we usually go from Southampton on Red Funnel as we can sometimes get a deal on attractions/hotels when buying tickets. Also (more importantly) you can get a cooked breakfast on board.
I doubt it but never say never.
I gather it’s very expensive to take vehicles on the ferry.
As foot passengers it’s always been quite affordable, tickets on the Seacat can be included in the train fare, great if you have a Railcard!
Isles of Scilly.
UK’s Subtropical Paradise.

And I also like The Outer Hebrides…
As someone who’s never been abroad, we holiday in the uk, Devon and Cornwall are lovely as is Scotland, we went there last June and the weather was glorious, we are going to the lakes on Friday for a few days, re the iow, we were considering a week there next year, but accommodation is quite expensive, then there’s the ferry over, we stayed in Lymington in 23, and went over as foot traffic which was reasonably cheap, used the bus to get to the needles, then the chairlift to the beach and a boat trip around the needles themselves, it’s a lovely place……
Cornwall looks absolutely beautiful! I’m thinking of going there for my next holiday.![]()
Norway takes some beating
I’m sure you’ll enjoy it, the scenery, the food, not to mention the history, steeped in myth and legend!
Lisbon, Portugal.
It’s got it all: history, architecture, sun, sea, not hugely expensive, lovely people.
I also love the Isle of Wight. It’s one of the very few places I can remember having a holiday as a child. Have to say, it’s a very laid back place. Some stunning scenery, and a walkers paradise. Property prices I believe are lower than mainland UK…AND …people tend to live longer than mainland UK. Good job I like it as I live here!! If anyone is visiting - get in touch as residents get money-off vouchers for the ferries - I’ve given my recent vouchers away, but if I don’t need them, I’m happy to share to others.
Although mainland Britain has many beautiful places it has to be Guernsey. I loved the place the first time we visited in 2012 and have returned every year, sometimes twice a year…
pretty much anywhere in Italy suits me
Thailand is a pretty good place for a holiday. I enjoyed Chang Mai
But Thailand and Malaysia are both great places to visit
That is so true, very different to the mainland. I just hope The Islanders are able to keep it that way!
Any corner of the country where I live really. ![]()
Any cricket ground will do
