If the final score was;
99 goals 99 points to 49 goals 27 points
What was the final margin between the two sides?
99x6=594 + 99 =693
49x6=294 + 27=321
um 372 ???
My BHs family are Essendon supporters and would be very happy with that result especially it was over Collingwood.
Correct.
Extra points for you because you showed your figurings. ![]()
Yes…but 99 goals?

Purely a mathematical exercise ![]()
The highest score ever recorded in a game was 100 goals 34 points - 634 to 3 goals 0 points - 18 points scored by Campbell Creek against Primrose in the Maryborough Castlemaine District football Association in 1990.
Second highest score ever recorded was 79.41 - 515 by the Great Western Lions to 1.0 by the Ararat Eagles in the Mininera and Districts Football League in 2019
I thought the score line read Goals - Behinds - Total Points or is that just old fashioned?
In the 1960s, when I worked for TCN9 as a senior tech, every Saturday I used to get one VFL game from Melbourne to be broadcast in Sydney.
Actually I didn’t mind it as a spectator sport despite its “Aerial Ping Pong” reputation and the fact that I didn’t understand it at all. No Sydney teams in those days.
That is the correct format for the scoreboard.
Some games are very “edge of the seat” stuff.
Some games are “Ho Hum” boring.
Those close games are tortuous for the sides behind, or in front for that matter, by less than a goal. One goal on the final siren can be heartbreaking or total bliss.
