It’s crazy really some of the places we really dont want to go to “But we do go to them”
Since we married we’ve had lots of dog’'s All have lived their rest of life with us and all have a place in our gardens of the verious houses we have lived in,
I bought our first dog with all the fancy paper work and had it vet Inspected to make sure it was in good health, and it was, Now i am being honest here I did not know until that dog’s days we’re over how cruel i was to that dog, Oh dont get me wrong he had every thing, good food / regular walks during the week and week ends long walks and visit’s to the beach (his place he loved the best)
But during the monday to friday 7-30 until 6pm he was in the house, I never thought this was cruel until I understood the inside of the house was not the place for a dog to be all day long,
I got our next dog and most of our future dog’s from Animal rescue centre’s, But it really broke my heart walking around these places looking at the dog’s jumping up at the wire enclosure’s and looking at you with that please please Take me??? Or the dog that because it was’nt the best looking animal just sat in the pen and did nothing, that dog had given up, If your a puppy you’ve a much better chance, What one do you choose? This is one of those places you do not really want to go to , But with luck and effort one or maybe two of these animals will have a home, Even that side of choice can hurt "What if you see two dog’s brother é sister that have lived together all their lives ??? Do you take just one? Knowing that the one left behind will be heart broken,
It’s like visiting the cemitary and the grave stones, This is again a place you’d rather not visit in one way “But to some it’s a place you have to” Ive seen many a person talking to the ground or who’s under it,
When ever ive taken any of my dog’s to the vet, I swear as soon as i try to get them into the car they know were they are going, And once in the waiting room they are as good as gold, No fighting with any of the dog’s or cat’s that are waiting their turn, This is do but you dont situation,
Three years ago while I was miles away in my garden just weeding "I was thinking of something else and not the weeds i was pulling up, Oh i knew what i was doing, It’s a bit like any of us who drive, Your driving along using the Indicators / Horn etc etc and think nothing of it,
your minds on something else, (Like what’s for dinner tonight,
Well as i was in the thick of one of the borders I suddenly was faced with three little kittens, all looking at me, two of them did not like what they we’re seeing and ran behind the daisies but one (the smallest) decided to stand her ground and give me the eye, until a hissing sound was made and the mother was willing to fight if need be for her kitten, she picked this little ball of fluff up and off she went,
I kept an eye of this border but no sign of any of them, Then a week later again im in my glory place doing some hoing, and “Yes your right” the young small kitten was caught up just under the hedge in some wild thorn’s no chance of her getting out of this mess, I put on a pair of welding hide gloves and started to cut the thorns away and managed to get a hold of the kitten and as no sign of mother I took the kitten into the greenhouse and went over to our house for milk/and a tin of fish, the kitten was howling away but did stop and smell the fish "But did not like what she smelt & as for the milk again not over keen, it was then that hissing sound was at my rear standing in the greenhouse doorway, I could’nt get out and mother cat could"nt get in, the kitten was again smelling the fish?
,I Sat down in the old chair i have in the green house and just looked at the two of them, Mother came in very slow and took little notice of the kitten but had an interest in the fish and started to eat , After she’d had her fill she picked the kitten up and headed off behind the pump house, I started from the next day to put cat food and bought cat special milk in the greenhouse daily, I never did see them eating but by evening all offerings had gone, it was later I saw mother cat with one of the other kittens moving to the far end of our garden (it’s an acre garden so you can imagen how far she was taking them) Mother moved her cats offten to different places within our fenced garden but as the shooting season was about to start i was worried they’d be killed, so i started to put the food/milk on the outside patio table, it was all eaten but no signs of the cats,
Until one morning I heard this cats cry, It was the kitten, out of all three cats this one was the only one that had all four lower legs with white markings so i called her socks, she was crying because the dog I had at the time was called “HENRY” and not one bit of bad in him, he welcomed every visitor, both human and animal, but he had one problem, he liked to eat & eat everything from the apples/pears he could manage to pull off the tree’s & the berry tree’s we’re his bonus offerings even used tea bags i’d had to put seeds in for sowing in the green house if i’d left them on the potting bench, he’d eat them and then give me that sad look “it was’nt me” Well Henry was climbing on the patio table and enjoying the cat’s food “hence” when this little bungle of fluff arrived for his meal it was gone and out of all the cats she was the only one who was to let me know she was wanting her fee meal, After almost a year I could manage to stroke all the kittens But not mother, And i wanted to get them all to the vets to have them looked at and stop them (mother included) from having kittens, we came to a deal with the vet if I could get them to him he would do the job Inspite of them all being wild, it took a while getting the kittens in the cat plastic cages and to the vet, Now the mother cat ??? Now she was the problem ? or was she,
No i put some fresh haddock in the cage and in she went, I closed the door and phoned the vet and off we went, cage on the back seat and the vet again did his stuff and two day’s later we collected her much to the vets laughter, I asked whats so funny, You he said, you know what my assistants call you dont you, No I replied, The crazy English man, Well ive used the same vets for years now and ive seen girls come and go and they always have a smile for me & what ever Animal ive found or taken on, This is one place I do, Like to go to, It provides a service for the Animals who need it, Ive still got the kittens but only two of the three (thanks to the hunter’s and snare traps)
but all ie momma as she’s been named and the other two are all friendly and get a stroke every day, and have verious places they sleep in Momma has taken the wall mounted flower cage as her sunny day resting basket and the mouse population in the Barn is under control,
You never really own a cat “But they are very entertaining Animals if you give them a chance”,
