Yet another newbie

I found this forum earlier, thought it seems like a nice place, so decided to join.

I’m into most things, so you’ll probably see me posting all over the place…especially on the threads that have something to do with gardens, houses, anything mechanical, (especially cars, motorcycles).

I wonder if any of you know what my user name means?

Hello there Lupara

Your name? Well I did cheat and google it.

Hello Lupara and welcome, jump in and have fun.

Now you have us all running to Google:mrgreen:

We should get along very well together, especially as our names are in a way connected!

No doubt Google is going to be overloaded now!

Hi, welcome, looking forward to hearing more from you.

So can you tell us what does your User name means, please?

Hello Lupara  welcome, I look forward to chatting with you.
Your name I guess is connected in some way to the latin word for wolf. I think I have also come across a similar word in a novel written by Mario Puzo

Can I answer that after Morticia replies?:040:

Morticia is saying nothing!

Morticia’s googling skills must leave a lot to be desired …for I got … on Wiki

Lupara is an Italian word used to refer to a sawn-off shotgun of the break-open type. It is traditionally associated with Cosa Nostra, the Italian organized crime group dominant in Sicily for their use of it in vendettas, defense—such as its use against Mussolini’s army when he decided to break up the Sicilian mafioso network—and hunting.

So … do we call you Godfather or will Wolfie do on full moons? :043:

I dont do playing games.

Hello Lupara

I think you’ll really enjoy this forum so welcome.

I guessed that Lupara is taken from the Latin word lupus, meaning wolf so, is you a wolf in sheep’s clothing?:mrgreen:

Morticia is correct, its the favoured weapon of the Sicilian Mafia. Some of them wear a flat cap, which they call a “coppola.”

Yes, I goggled it after I’d posted.

So do you wear a flat cap and belong to the Sicilian Mafia, Lupara? ;-)

Flat cap and clogs…

Welcome Lupara from another newbie

Thanks to you all for the welcome.

I had guessed lupus - wolf also …

Anyhow, welcome, an interesting and original introduction post!
