Woman reverses own car off truck to foil Wolverhampton theft
“A woman who spotted a thief using a truck to take away her car said she foiled him by leaping on the back of the transporter and reversing her snatched vehicle down its ramp.”
"She saw the theft as she was leaving a Slimming World session in Wolverhampton.
She said that as she jumped into action she thought: “How dare you take my car? You are not having it.”
West Midlands Police said it was investigating an attempted theft."
This woman certainly had some guts to do this. Would you do the same in those circumstances or perhaps think better of it and just claim on your insurance?
Wow, top marks to her! That truck driver is so gonna wish he hadn’t tried taking her car - his registration has been recorded, and likely CCTV footage from the church. Oops, haha!
No could not manage that sadly.
Years ago we were towing our Caravan three kiddies in the back.
We had a group of motorcyclist pull in front and toy with us…half an hours worth then they moved on to somebody else…
Few miles up the road they had pulled on in a layby.
Husband pulled over also. I got out the car as fast as a flash…
I was surprised at my Temper…but they got it and they took it on board…then off we drove…Husband would not want me to repeat that saga…ever…
I do tend to agree with you there, that is the kind of advice police would give, but in the heat of the moment there might have been something that she just wasn’t going to allow that to happen and acted upon that, whatever it was.
Incidents like that remind me very much of another woman who just did what she thought she ought to. She piled in when there was a robbery at a jewellery shop, then members of the public also did the same:
