Right now - with the way the world is and seems to be heading. No, ta. In fact I feel sorry for the kids today with so many issues, challenges and problems … locally and globally. I’m actually a bit surprised that the youth around today don’t rebel against the generations that have pretty much messed everything up. Pollution, debt, tech that really does not help, algorithms, climate, unemployment, gig economy, meaningless consumerism, wealth divide, unaffordable housing, wars, racism, sexism, anti-different and lots of hatred, … you name it, the 40’s 50’s 60’s 70’s 80’s year olds have not done a great job these past few decades.

Even without waiting for the brown stuff to hit the fan, I’d think that kids today do not have as good as kids of previous decades. I’m unable to think of anything kids today have that is better than, say, kids in the 70’s and 80’s had. A Playstation and an i-phone do not make a better childhood. Nor do they make up for unpayable student debt and zero chance of getting their own house.
And then sometime in the near future, as you note, the brown stuff really appears.

You blame the previous generations for the dilemma that young people seem to find themselves in today Lincs, but isn’t it all down to the ruling classes who shape society using the media, TV and the internet. The masses are manipulated by the few. It is they who have lost industry to foreign countries and left us with lots of educated youngsters with nothing to do.
From being the biggest industrial nation in the world, we find ourselves as probably the least industrialised with just a few top end jobs on computers that provide virtually no job satisfaction. The have flooded with the nation with both legal and illegal incommers while our youngsters stand idle and resort to drugs and crime.
You also say that the claim that young people never have had it so good is wrong…
So the young of today have never had to go down a mine for eight hours, they have never felt the cold when the inside of windows froze up in their bedrooms, they have never had to walk five miles to work, or been bullied by a money grabbing regimental boss who wants you to work for nothing and only allows two weeks holiday a year, and you can forget sick pay without an affidavit from a doctor, and they have never had to fight in a war.
They swan off to university until they are twenty one, our generation left school at 15 and went straight into employment for a pittance.
No wonder they can’t get on the housing ladder, I saved up my wages from being 15 and by the time I left my apprenticeship had a decent wedge to put on a house. Now they leave university at 21 with a massive debt around their necks that isn’t their fault, and it’s not my fault either, it’s that scoundrel Blair.
Some crazy politician believes that he can stop global warming by cutting carbon emissions and burning no more fossil fuels, and driving electric vehicles, but all that’s done is to drive industry to countries where they don’t care while our workers are stood idle or stacking shelves in Tesco. All those valuable skills lost.
You have absolutely no right in blaming previous generations for the total mess that politicians have made of this country. Then you wonder why I would vote for Reform.

What if, when you die it turns out to better that living on earth.
No body to feed and water, no pain or illness, being invisible you can move around effortless wherever you want and watch all the poor sods below struggling to scratch out a living and needing money to survive.
And you might meet all your family and friends who you lost over the years.
Or for some peace and quiet, just find a nice spot on the moon to watch the world go by…

I was only referring to young people today compared to young people 3-4 decades ago and I was primarily thinking about their prospects - work, housing, etc. I was not thinking about all the stuff you have noted of long past generations. My point was that the continuous improvements to lives & prospects of young people appears to have stopped, or worse.

Only my opinion Lincs, but people need something to do, and the way the world is going seems to be that nobody has to do anything anymore. Shopping and working from home, some bloke even delivers your prescription if you want (whereas I can understand having it delivered for those who are disabled) Barcodes and smartphones can take out all the annoying things in life, but what do we do with all the spare time? Most of the pubs have closed around here which was the main place where you could interact with your fellow neighbours and friends. Smartphones and the internet do not encourage conversation or company, in fact other people are a nuisance when you are trying to write a post or surfing the net.
We are becoming a world of loners receiving all our news of what’s happening outside from the BBC, LBC news or GB News etc…and from our interpretations of that news, sometimes arrive at the wrong conclusions, that’s why we come on forums, to see what other people think.
