Our minds all work differently - I usually average only 4 or 5 and rarely manage 2 or 3, but I found today’s a bit easier than usual because I was left with fewer possible words to choose from.

Amazingly I got it in 2 today.
I am doing it on my Iphone now since NY Times took over. Still can’t share on here though. Me and techie stuff just don’t get along.

I am sure this is a one-off! I was so lucky because on my first guess I got the penultimate letter correct which was a great clue as not many words end like that.
