Yes so annoying here too - I did guess it at two or three but thought - naw they can’t be using a US spelling! but by the fifth go I thought hmmm looks like there are no other options. Very disappointing.

oh well here is the answer from google :

Is Wordle American?

Why does Wordle use American spellings? Wordle was developed by Josh Wardle, a British software engineer originally from Abergavenny in Wales, though he now resides in New York. The game is also registered to a UK domain name: powerlanguage.co.uk.

Or caramel as carmel :wink: :smiley:

And Craig
 as Cregg!!! :open_mouth::grin::joy:

Another word they use, in which I really cannot see any logic, is the ‘rest room’.

I mean, do you go in there for a rest, perhaps a lie down on a nice soft bed?

Cwa-feeeee (although I believe it is only certain areas who pronounce it like this.)

Maybe we should ask RightNow, Danny, and Surfermom to help us compile a permanent American/British dictionary thread for future reference??

a five letter word version?

Several decades ago, when entering the rest room, there was a settee, or fabric chair, a side table and even lamps, separate foyer from the inner area where the toilet stalls and wash basins were. Indeed it was intended for a five or ten minute respite from our shopping experience. Ladies could rest, relax, and regroup away from shop workers and other shoppers. These were mostly in large department stores such as Macys.

I struggled this morning - but it is amazing what a cup of tea can do!

In that way, I don’t get any clues, which I think is fairer.

We have too much integrity to give clues :innocent:

Well I did earlier when I mentioned it was misspelled. Of course, I realised that we all, being honest citizens, do the game first without looking at what others have said.
