I often use my thighs to saw on. I might even consider renting them out. 
I bought one similar to this and have had a couple in the past. So much quicker. You might be able to get cheaper ones from b&q or other places.

As a child, my dad had a Black and Decker circular saw attachment !!! eeeeeeek … very scary and I think not good :shock:
In those days ‘health and safety’ was not an issue.
The Jig Saw (now that I’m not terrified of it) is pretty useful.
