Women in Afghanistan

No they did not.

So if God created the world and the universe etc then what did Allah do ?

They both did the same thing, even did it in 6 days as well.

I think Jesus and Mohammed were both self employed as well, one as a trader the other as a chippy

This could go seriously off topic. When mohammad invented his nonsense he did so based on what he had learned about bits of Judaism and Christianity from people that he encountered as a trader. Most he misunderstood or got wrong or invented. The creation myth is a classic example.

yeah its all a load of old cobblers isn’t it.

That’s why I converted to Pastafarianism.

He’s Malaysian, Ruthio.

Some Ladies just don’t want to work, pure and simple, maybe some are happy with the equilibrium?

We seem to specialize in rescuing folks who don’t fundamentally want to be rescued.

It wasn’t that long ago that good Christian women were expected to wear a hat in church and were scorned by fellow worshipers if they didn’t.

It is only a matter of degree from a hat to a hijab to a niqab to a burka, it’s all just part of the loony world that is religion.

Its many decades since women were supposed to wear a hat in Church and even when I was a child no one scorned you if you didn’t . Wearing a hat was a sign of respect not of oppression and most women liked the chance to wear their best hat . Hats enhance women they don’t oppress them . The Burka and niqab erase a woman’s. face in fact her whole personality. Even the hijab is worn in such a way as to make most women unattractive .
All of these head coverings should IMO be banned in schools and the two first should be banned completely in the U.K. by law .

I agree Muddy and here are a few reasons why

  1. If we covered a flower with a dark cloth the lack of light would prevent polination and also kill many insects that rely on that pollen
thereby reducing the chances of many species survival. This makes me wonder if women in Burkas have regular blood test, for essential Vitamin D which is required to maintain bone density.

  2. Burkas could easily be worn by criminals ( men or women) to hide their identity & I know that they have been used by suicidal terrorist to hide their weapons.
UK law says we should all be equal, so that means that all men & women should be entitled to wear what they want, providing it does not appear to be a means of evading detection when committing crimes.

  3. Many women don’t want to wear them, but they are afraid not to. I read a report saying that some women chose to be naked underneath when forced to wear them as a protest!

If they want to live in Britain they should be made to abide by British laws.

But (thanks to Blair) Britain now is formally a multicultural nation. Multiculturalism is of course a total crock. It has never formed the basis of a nation and never will or can. Eventually one “culture” will become dominant which is what is taking place now.

this reminds me of a muslim woman I used to work with, she married a white man and they have been married over 40 years and still the community will not accept him, even though he dresses in their attire and attends mosque and changed his religion for her. She told me they are not invited to many events although she attends marriages and the like but not him.

His brother disowned him. My colleagues husband gave up a lot for the love of his life.

All their 3 children have been brought up muslim but the 2 girls have rejected the faith and are very westernised, I’m not sure about her son.

She told me it really upsets her that her children have turned away from the religion

My parents, my mother especially, went absolutely ape-droppings when I announced that I had decided to become hard atheist.

I am sure that many parents , over the years , have been upset by their children turning away from their religion, but sadly it has happened because most of us now understand that religion is a personal belief , not a rule of life.
Many years ago I can recall that it was unthinkable for a Catholic to marry a Protestant but both religions eventually realized that, if you love somebody most will choose their love rather than their religion. Sadly Muslim leaders try to make everybody follow Islam, so it isn’t always a personal choice.
That is why many people now consider Islam to now be a political movement rather than a religion. I have no objection to people having their own beliefs , but when they allow those beliefs to make the laws they live by, Islam becomes little better than a dictator.

Islam has always been politically based.

We have to stop this dead now with strict laws against oppressive woman’s garb .

It would fall foul of the legislation preventing any form of racism right from the get-go. Now I know that Islam is not race specific but the UK law includes religion with race in its scope.

In that case the law must be revised ,we must stop pandering to religious minorities ,regarding religion as sacrosanct and accept that superstition is no excuse for oppression .
