Women in Afghanistan

For a start, follow the French and ban the wearing of the burka or niqab. Make it much less attractive for these extremists to come and live here.

And there we have it, sadly. We’ll be hoist by our own petard.

It’s got sweet FA to do with him, Ruthio. According to my Muslim mate, Mustapha Phagg, the Quran ADVISES that, once a woman has reached puberty, she should dress modestly and cover her hair. Burkas and niqabs are solely the result of some Muslim men strong-arming their women-folk into dressing how they, the men, want them to dress. My mate hates the sight of burkas and niqabs and I’ve actually seen and heard him shout at women so dressed.

Have to say, though, they’d be pretty handy if you needed to nip out to the shops and you were having a bad hair day, or you’d spilt tomato soup down your top :lol:

Percy those poor women are scared of retaliation or violence that’s why they wear clothes from top to bottom . Their brothers or husbands make them . Only in their own home can they undress. They must cover up again to even answer the door

Perhaps he should shout at the men !

I know that having visited Mustapha and his wife on several occasions. As soon as I knocked on his front door, his wife would run upstairs to put her hijab on. I have never seen her without it.

Thank whoever you pray to that not all men of the Muslim persuasion are like that. Others that I know actively stop their wives from wearing even a hijab went entertaining other people.

The bottom line is that Mohammedans live in a different reality from the rest of the world and not only will not but CAN not integrate with the rest of us.

@Percy_Vere ,. Mustapha Phagg eh Percy-Vere ??
Donkeyman! :+1::grin::grin::+1:

Some men don’t like to see their wives dress like that, in fact one man from Saudi told me that his wife dresses in brightly coloured clothes when they are abroad, but she has to wear the black cover all at home.
When I asked why, he told me that she would be rejected by their community as most are too afraid to break the rules.
They can integrate with the rest of us, but too many are afraid of the consequences of breaking Islam rules.

Although the Quran commands both men and women to behave modestly and contains no precise prescription for how women should dress, this insistence on the burqa is nothing more than a false interpretation of the Quran.
But if you have ever watched any of the American religious channels wrongful interpretation by the zealous evangelical ministers is on a par with the fanatical Imams and their congregations.

I’m SO pleased to read this Percy_Vere, I wish your friend and other like minded men would campaign to get the damn things banned in this country as in France.
Tell him to keep shouting!!

I believe that all religious books are a means of controlling all of the religion’s followers and I know they were all written by humans, not gods !
Personally I have no belief in any god, yet I understand that the idea of life after death can be a comfort to those who are mourning loved ones … but only humans are likely to make up stories of how wonderful; the afterlife will be. If people believe these stories they must be fools , because if a god created life on earth wouldn’t he have offered all creatures a beautiful afterlife?

Facemasks on the other hand …

i have absolutely no problem if people wish to believe in a god or gods that is entirely up to them. Whether I believe or not is immaterial but when it comes to forcing others to adhere to these beliefs this I do have a problem with.
All faiths have their fanatics including the Christian but it does seem it is OK to blaspheme against the Christian religion and believers yet mention Allah and all hell breaks loose.

Very true,

I said to my muslim colleagues that really, their god and our god is really just the same bloke and people just worship him in different clothes.

The niqab is no different a nuns outfit really. Why do people get outraged about muslim clothes ?

Because it is different they are both worn for different reasons. I saw my first full burqa with just a slit for the eyes and I thought that is ridiculous. Women who wear this can and are forced to wear this by men, nuns wear their robes from choice.

Not all muslim women are forced to wear the bhurka, a fair chunk of them do it by choice.

The Judeo-Christian god is absolutely NOT the same as the allah thing. The allah thing was invented by mohammad.

Yeah but they did the same things

I never for one minute said they were but these tend to be the older generation the younger are not so keen.

I think the Bhurka was originally PPE for women in the Sahara wasn’t it … to protect them from the sand and heat etc ?
