Will pilotless passenger aircraft take off or be grounded for lack of use

Well you wouldn’t me in one, Cinders - nor a driverless car either.

Nor me, I want a human at the sharp end of the aircraft

@Cinderella , Well l see you started a thread on this Cinders ??
I agree with the link you provided that public pressure will prevent any
companies from putting it into practice ?
This is because people are not as stupid as is thought !
If planes and trains etc can be robotised, then so can any industry !!
This will lead to jobless people eventually and will result in the further
concentration of wealth in even fewer hands ?
The people know this, and will re-unionise to stop it happening !!
You can see this occuring allready, but this will get worse and we may
see the burning of and destruction of assets eventually with the resulting
reactions of the “owners” of these assets ??

Ultimately Society will have to take a new direction away from the radical
capitalism path it is presently on, if only because capitalism cannot thrive
without the peasants having the wherewithal to use the capitalist goods
and services being offered ??
That is my opinion !!

Automated trains yes. Automated aircraft no.

very well said DM and I whole heartedly agree power to the workers bring back Scargill?? humans I have found often reach of a state of being too smart all together and believe they can solve every problem by using science and technology - then how come we got climate change issues? did you know that the first nation people of Oz well some of the older ones could light a fire in the bush and the smoke from it would ascend to the clouds above and cause them to release rain - raining from heaven - now that is smart - pilotless planes NOT smart - not by removing the labor force but just being stupid and reckless and dangerous!!

@gumbud Yep, l did know that gummy,!!
They also used controlled bush fires to clear ‘THEIR’ land !!
And they never ever set the bloody place on fire like you lot !!!

Public acceptance to PA’s is going to be the decider.

exactly - this line of the human race is getting stupid by the minute!

SCARY IT IS. :boom:

From the Guardian
Passenger planes could be flown without a pilot in the next decade, according to a new study.

The research was conducted by investment bank UBS, which found that new technology is being developed that would make remotely flying an aircraft feasible in the near future.

Pilotless planes could save airlines £27 billion and slash fares for passengers, who could see prices drop by over 10 per cent. The report said: “The average percentage of total cost and average benefit that could be passed onto passengers in price reduction for the US airlines is 11 per cent.” Savings on European flights would be less at an average of 4 per Cent.

i suspect that RyanAir would be the first to take this up, giving you another option to pay for.

I think three of those would be a very good idea.
I don’t know about the need for a boarding pass reprint.

RyanAir do actually make you pay fir a reprint of your boarding pass that you have downloaded and printed at home if there is ANY part of it that is not readable or smudged
