Our friends nearby have reached a milestone with their first child - creche. Having reached 15 months old the very young boy has just started in a local creche for 3 days a week. This very lucky kid will end up with French as the first language they speak as they play with the other kids. And fluent in English as that’s what is spoken at home.
A great start to life. But look at the lunch menu for the under-3 children at the creche (I’m sharing only main course).
This is the intro to food that French kids get. Some barely have all their teeth. No wonder some other nations are so overweight on fast food.
I had Tesco Chipolatas and runner beans from the garden.
I do admire the French understanding of what’s proper food. Merlu! wow. And I bet it’s not old and smelly like UK offerings.
Also…
I knew it was bad, but I didn’t know it was that bad.
Any wonder why so many people are ill now? With 1 in every 2 people expected to get cancer…
The greedy oligarchs are to blame - for pretty much everything!
Its beyond dismal. It also means kids are very limited in the range of foods they eat now and as adults. Offal and cheaper cuts will soon disappear from shops and restaurants - meaning our waste from an animal butchered for meat gets higher and higher.
I hope Waitrose continue to sell their chicken livers. I wonder how popular they are nowadays? We have them regularly, good nosh and cheap.
They would be a lot healthier on a vegetarian diet, with as little ultra processed foods as possible.
