Who remembers Fatty Arbuckle?

American Silent film Actor.
He mentored Charlie Chaplin in his early career. He “Discovered” Buster Keaton and Bob Hope
He was one of the most popular and highest paid silent film actors from 1910 to early 1922.
He fell from grace when he was accused of the rape and murder of Virginia Rappe, a Model and silent film actress of the same era.
Although Fatty Arbuckle was exonerated, his career fell apart. His films were banned, and the public turned on him in a nasty way.
He changed his name and became a Film Director.
In 1933, Warner Brothers finally gave him a second chance and signed him to make a feature film.
Sadly, that night, Roscoe Conkling “Fatty” Arbuckle died of a heart attack age 46.

He appeared in hundreds of films and was a regular in the Keystone Kops Slapstick Comedies between 1912 and 1917.

I know the name and that he was a silent film actor.

Hal Roach used to produce programmes for TV featuring many of the silent American comedy actors. These programmes were often broadcast during the school holidays as I vaguely remember. That’s probably why I’ve heard of Fatty Arbuckle.
