Who plays Golf or has tried to play Golf?

I had a go 41 years ago, Played(hacked) 3 holes, was 19 over par, threw the Clubs away and retired to the 19th hole for refreshments. :grinning:

Don’t play golf but often go to a local golf club as they have a Costa & we pass it often. I have bought a jacket in their sale in there though.

What is a Costa, situated at the golf course?

I have putted and done mini golf at various seaside resorts.
My experience taught me not to bother to go to the expense of buying golf clubs.

That pretty much mirrors my attempt at golf too, though I hired the clubs. I don’t mind a game that requires time to become skilled at but one which requires time and practice just to hit the sodding ball at all is totally stupid.

Funny thing is my two sons and son in law play the game and are pretty good at it (for casual players)

I have a friend who plays golf. Does that count?

Hmmmmm maybe not. If you caddy for your friend, you might pick up on the finer points?

Never heard of Costa? Wow! It’s a coffee cafe. Sells food to eat as well, not cheap but I like it.

I noticed that when I drove across the Nullarbor it has a golf course going the whole way. It is over 1300km long, claims to be the world’s longest golf course - there is probably not that much competition.

Gawd, I went to a Costa when I was in the UK and at KL Airport - specialises in mediocre coffee (like Starbucks)

I like their coffee. Cappuccino is my favourite drink.

A woman was on the sixth hole on a golf course when approached by a man . He asked her which hole he was on. She replied that he was on the hole behind her on the fifth hole. On the homeward run her again asked the same question . Again she said he was on the eleventh hole the one behind her. Back in the club house because of her help on the course he bought her a drink as a thank you. They got chatting and her asked what she did for a living . Bit embarrassing she said she sells tampons. He curled up on the floor laughing his head off. She told him it was not that funny. He explained he sold toilet rolls so he was still one hole behind her

I have seen photos of her “interesting” golfing outfits on whatsapp. Do people wear ridiculously colour-clashing clothes so that they don’t accidentally get hit by a golf ball?

@Bretrick I used to play a lifetime ago, but now at almost 81, I’m far too old to take it up seriously again. My forum name LongDriver is from those distant days when I was an exceptionally long driver
I used to play ay Fulwell and I think I’m safe in saying it’s a fine club with a full-size course that is both well-kept and well attended.

I always thought you liked driving a long way LongDriver…
Now I’ve more or less packed up running all over the place I fancied perhaps taking up golf. I mean, what’s not to like, a nice walk around some very well kept country and having a purpose as well…Knocking that little ball into a few holes…How hard can it be…
Which brings me to the reason why I’ve never played, holding folk up and making a complete ass of myself forbids me from ‘Having a go’…Back to trig hunting, at least nobody is watching.

3 men playing golf and at one tee by the road ,a funeral procession passed by. On of the men put down his club took off his cap and bowed his head as a mark of respect. His two pals were surprised but pleased at the respect this man showed. When they asked him why he said “well you have to really when its your wife in the coffin in the hearse”.
