So today Argos are delivering my new iPad…this one now has a badly cracked screen!Covered in Sellotape! My fault.
Anyway they are delivering between between 8 and 5…which is a terrible delivery window!
They will let me know when they are getting near!
Amazon are delivering a case for said iPad…could be any time up to 10pm but I do know it is currently 18 miles away in the Cardiff delivery depot.
Now it would be nice if they both arrived early…but they never do!
And I need to get my prescription to the doctors!
Could be a day hanging around.
And I had to seek out the password for my Apple ID!
At least I found it and my very first iPad,completely obsolete, which demanded I input said password for no apparent reason is back in use as a radio! After many months.**
It can work the other way too. I remember when I ordered a desk for my son’s art studies from Amazon.
Obviously it’s not something that can be pushed through the letter box or hidden under a flower pot.
I made a point of being in on the day of delivery, blow me, two days earlier I get a text informing me it had been delivered, got home… nothing!
I found it eventually, it had been left with one of my neighbours although I’d received no communication to that end.
Oh , and anyone who’s actually tried to speak to a real person at a courier company will know that it’s like wading through mud… there was this kind of awful chat buddy bot thing. It had a name…I called it a few names I can tell you
I’ve not had a problem with Argos.
Sunday evening I ordered a TV , I got a time slot email and text …it arrived Monday less than 24hrs since ordering on time.
I suppose it depends who the couriers are
I am luckier than most in that I have a sizeable porch where the outer door can be left unlocked while the inner door remains locked. Then any delivery expected can be left and photographed as delivered, for me to collect after the bell have been rung and the driver driven off at hight speed. So far, all delivery companies do take on board that the porch IS the place to leave all parcels
To a certain extent, I do tend to agree with a minimum spend or some will do a minimal spend all too regularly and expect it delivered for free almost on a daily basis.
We tell the company to leave any parcel in the lean to at the front of the house,it is safe as were at the end of a cul-de-sac,and have cameras so thieves beware.
Grrr…Argos have e-mailed me to tell me the new iPad is being delivered tomorrow.
I know I didn’t select that!
Still, the case for it is out for delivery!
Who does not think they are a nuisance? OTOH, I acknowledge that you can track a delivery today even if it doesn’t spare you the wait if it’s half through the day that your parcel will be delivered. Luckily, one of my neighbours is usually in to take it in. Just on one occasion has a delivery been leant against the door outside although I was at home. He couldn’t be bothered to ring but took a photo and wanted to get it confirmed as “delivered”. Very rarely a consignment needs to be picked up from a local branch where parcel lockers are also located, which is why the latter are no alternative for me.
I left a plastic box outside of the door for a delivery right by the front door .
Needless to say he walked right past it and left it in a small greenhouse on the side . .Next time I shall mark the spot with an arrow.
Personally I try to get everything delivered to my PO Box then it is just a matter of wandering down the road to collect it.
There are a few occasions when couriers won’t deliver to a PO Box so I have a space on the verandah for them to leave stuff. It is out of sight of the street (not that I have ever had stuff taken)
There are a couple places to hide stuff near my door. Almost all delivery people have put stuff there if it’s non-perishable. For a while I was calling one delivery company so often, the manager called to apologize. Thankfully since then there have been alternate ways to get what I want. At that time, that was the only way.
For perishable items, the delivery window is smaller, 4 hours at most.
