For me, it was adult coloring. I was doing coloring pages before it ever got popular. When it got popular, there was the good and the bad side. The good side was that there were more supplies than ever, and some of them were more affordable. The downside was that everyone was talking about it. It became commonplace and not for the real enthusiasts.
I was also vegan before anyone else I knew. It was difficult to get much to eat in a restaurant in those days. Now it’s become a “thing”.
What were you ahead of the curve about? Did you like it when people caught up?

Trying to keep fit before health clubs / gyms, aerobics courses, and jogging became popular. Any physical activity was frowned upon, to say the least. Sport was for watching it but not for doing it yourself.
Yes, I liked it since gyms were quite an achievement.
Not accepting all shades of brown as the dominant colour of home furniture nor large-patterned wall paper.
That was all the same to me.
Dunlop KT26 shoes, I really liked them, then Cliff Young ran from Sydney to Melbourne in a pair in 1983 (when he was 61) winning the inaugural ultra-marathon in record time and the price rocketed from $19.95 to over $30. Everybody and his dog wanted a pair.
BTW he won, not because he was fast but because he just kept running while everybody else had to sleep.
