What was your favourite subject at school?

my problem was the teachers out of perhaps twenty teachers i had only two were teachers, the others just passed on the information…
i may be a bit older than most on here, but most of our teachers were old ladies called Miss, the first world war decimated the educated males from their generation [and it was all my fault] … and the main reason most Scots hate the English was there for all to see, Scottish history was ALL about the English at war with the Scots, oh there were little paragraphs about the ocassional viking, but more than 9o% was about war with the English… where as the clever English got history about war with EVERYBODY…but they usually sent Scots…Irish…and Welsh Regiments to sort it out… they needed the Englishmen for the Pits and the Mills…lol… Scots History

My teachers were men called yes sir no sir. History was about king & queens, the English civil war, wars of the roses and all such feudalism.

English language, English Literature and Art. I was very good at PE and games so loved all that too.

I was rubbish at team games and most sports. I hated cross country running with a passion and took notes from my mam to excuse me from running…Then at 27 years old I spent the next 45 years of my life running 50 and 60 mile fell runs and road marathons…

Foxy, no one person has the right to organize another person, even if its done with good intention.

Sorry Spitty, I’m probably sounding a bit thick here, but how does that relate to my situation?

Things don’t always have to be relatable.

I was almost in the school Cricket team. Always played Cricket from being a kid. Draw wickets with chalk on the wall outside our house. Bat and bowl across the road (before all the cars). Once in to bat, I could stay there.

Came the end of a sports session at school and the games master thought he’d wind up my innings himself. He couldn’t do it. “School team for you lad” he said. I told him I couldn’t because my Father had landed me a job in a factory and I’d be leaving school a few months early to start it. A pity. I’d have liked being in the team.

Not good at other sports.
