Here in the states it’s at my door about 2:30 in the afternoon. I will add, the mail I receive from England takes only about 5 days for delivery! And that is currently, even with covid restrictions. Last Christmas, my holiday cards arrived in about 7 delivery days.
The post here is all over the place.
My usual post lady was off work for weeks because a dog bit her hand as she pushed mail through someone’s letter box.
Without her, my mail was coming anytime up till 6 pm one evening!
One postman told me they didnt have enough staff because so many were being ‘pinged’ and/or having to isolate.
The remaining posties were having to work their own rounds, then help out on other rounds afterwards as well.
So perhaps before we complain too much, we ought to spare a thought for the foot-slogging posties who are being made to do double rounds.
Yes, this is true…It hasn’t occurred to me about the effects of pinging etc.
Usually about 4pm.Never on a Saturday.
We always know when he’s been, the dog go’s raving mad.
He’s on a noisy moped and dressed in yellow so I don’t think it’s personal.
What an odd postie…don’t they wear red down your way? Ohhh apologies, i didn’t realise you were across the water
Yes,quite a lot of water.
Not much snail mail anyway nowadays. If so, mostly from companies and institutions. Got a postcard just today which is very unusual. Letters and most parcels arrive at between 1 and 2pm just when I’m taking a nap. I don’t open the door and if none of my neighbours accepts a package, it will be stored at a PO branch where I can pick it up the next day from 10 am for seven days.
Some of our posties are quite lax in that department. They won’t bother to deliver, they just put a card in the box and take the package directly to the PO.
We don’t seem to have a regular postie now, although we used to until he retired.
No set time, it just arrives whenever.
I walked past a postie the other day, sitting on a wall looking at his phone. I joked with him about having a rest, and he said ‘Yes, and I’m going to have a snack soon too’. So we had a chuckle and I went on my way.
Then he shouted out to me ‘Hey, don’t report me will you!?’.
‘As if I would’ I replied.
I mean we do tend to knock them don’t we, and they’re out hot footing it around in all weathers. I always remember our original postie saying that the area covering our cul- de-sac is quite a large round for one postie. So I’m not going to begrudge them a rest (or perhaps a pee in the stream opposite when needed (joke) )
My post arrives at various times. Sometimes at 07.30am and anytime up to 7.30pm.
Some days not at all. Then a huge pile delivered by someone who looks like a supervisor.
It must be a difficult time for the Royal Mail.
Same here.
We get ours here about midday - which suits me fine as it means the postman isn’t waking me up too early if I need to sign for anything
No idea. We pick ours up 3.5 kilometres down the road however parcels are delivered directly to our house.
I have no idea when the postie arrives at my house because the letterbox is by the front gate but I think it is about mid morning. Anyway he only delivers every other day since the pandemic started.
I don’t think the old delivery schedule has been reinstated.
Fortunately most of my mail is delivered to my PO Box where it is sorted every weekday and in my box by 7am. Have always had a Post Office box since I moved to Australia, it is far more convenient especially when I used to move a lot and they keep the mail for a month so going away on holiday isn’t a problem. The PO is only a few hundreds of metres from my home which is nice.
It irritates me when the odd place on Ebay won’t deliver to a PO Box and I try to avoid shopping at such places.
I tell a lie - the post service has resumed normal weekday delivery according to their web site. No doubt you are as excited as I to know this.
I am delighted that your post is back to normal, Bruce!
My few items of mail arrive at between 08.45hrs and 09.30 hrs, that is of course when I have mail. Most of it now I have changed over to receiving via e-mail. That was necessary as important mail went to another address, our postman doesn’t appear to have very good eyesight! Not wanting private and confidential mail read by others I made the decision to change over to e-mail. This had another advantage in that I only get ‘junk mail’ when there is addressed mail delivered.
Usually about 5 seconds after clicking the “Reply” button.
Yes, that’s if you have a fast connection though, very clever this technology isn’t it!
With me getting my ‘post’ via e-mail it’s usually after clicking the ‘download’ key!
