Ive been reading the daily news on the P,C, Regards the UK,
Two bit’s of news really made me ask myself what the hells going on,
It was the news of the man aged in his 80’s walking his dog in a public park and he was attacked and beated up, (kicked in the head and his ribs brocken by two young people ,
One was a girl who filmed this man as the boy continued to kick and punch the victim,
And then ran-off Laughing,
The man died two days later, The courts have so far sentenced the boy to 7yrs in an young offenders home and as yet the girl’s sentence is to be decided,
Im sure so many people think this sentence is far to short ?
He will be 22yrs of age when he leaves this young offenders home and still have a full life infront of him,
The next case was of a young Lad just going to school, Not bothering anyone ,
Yet he was set upon by another teenager and the knife was used to slash his throat,
We really do need a big change in sentencing and a few more Prisons built Or is it mental Asylum’s we need more off ?
Im sure I am not the only one to feel we have a right to grow old and hope to see our days through in peace And fear not going out of an evening ,
Let us know your true feelings on this subject please,
It makes me angry reading about such events Daniel so I try to avoid reading about this stuff.
However, in a country of over 68 million people I would think the chances of getting beaten up or having my throat cut are rare, and would probably have a greater chance of getting killed in a road accident or a health issue.
Road accident mortality…

AI Overview
In 2022, over 39,000 people in England died prematurely from cardiovascular conditions, including heart attacks, coronary heart disease, and stroke. This figure represents the highest annual total since 2008 and translates to an average of 750 deaths per week. The British Heart Foundation reports that the UK is experiencing a “worst start to a decade for heart health for 50 years” British Heart Foundation.
Same sad phenomenon here @OldGreyFox, surveys report up to 230,000 deaths a year caused by cardiovascular conditions, including sudden, premature miocardic heart attacks, unfortunately these figures are rising too fast. My husband became part of those figures in 2020, seemed to be in perfect health, no warning signs whatsoever, strong, active and full of energy, but had never had a checkup. More awareness is necessary, starting from a young age, no smoking, healthy eating, physical exercise and from at least 40 years of age, regular medical checkups. We must prioritize “prevention” , before reaching the “cure” stage. Many conditions unfortunately are genetic, like high cholesterol and hypertension (I got this from my mum ) , so they should be necessarily be kept under control with appropriate medication from a good cardiologyst. Diabetes is also another factor which is fundamental to take into consideration, especially when combined to heart disease.
Sorry, I think I’ve “strayed” off the subject of this thread, but this happens a lot, it seems.
Regarding the case of the two young people involved in the sickening attack on the elderly man my initial feelings were that it was way too lenient! Of course I’m not a magistrate or a judge and so I’m not ’ qualified ’ to say but it just seems plain wrong. I think this is what Daniel’s original post might be getting at rather than probability ?
