I don’t have a crystal ball, so have no predictions of my own.
When we were kids, we used to love reading the predictions for the coming year in Old Moore’s Almanack, just for a bit of fun -

It’s still in print but I haven’t read a copy of it for years - the newspapers usually print the Almanack’s main predictions

Some Predictions from Old Moore’s Almanack for 2024 -

  • A severe health warning for Trump, also an assassination warning
  • Once again the prediction of Ireland’s first female Taoiseach holds for 2025, she will be rather embattled in 2024 however
  • An AI becomes conscious
  • A swing to conservative governments across Europe
  • Big earthquake for 2024 that will stretch across borders
  • Moon in the news all year
  • AI-generated art sells for record prices
  • Regenerative medicine means we can finally regrow limbs and organs
  • Electric planes and drone taxis
  • This is the first year we will hear the phrase “the end of roads.”
  • The fight to save cash begins
  • Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs) are here, people invent a workaround
  • Space mining starts
  • Biden succumbs to serious health issues
  • Collapsing birth rates, babies become rare
  • Age reversal tech in the news

Mother Shipton made a fair few prophecies too!
She made quite a few prophecies about modern day transport and communication - though she did blot her copybook by predicting the World would end in Eighteen hundred and Eighty One!

I predict things left over from covid (signs etc) will become collectors items in the future. It was an unprecedented time in history. The whole world has never been locked down before as far as I’m aware, I think it’ll spike the interest of future generations.

That reminds me, I was stopped in my tracks when I went into my local pharmacy last week. They have taken down the huge screen from the counter. I have become so used to talking to people from behind huge screens that it seemed very strange to be chatting to the pharmacy assistant over the counter with all that space around me and no barrier between us.
The tiny shop looks huge without that barrier - it has left a legacy of lots of ugly screw holes in the counter top, though.
Maybe I could predict a boom in the shop re-fitting trade, as traders get their premises “back to normal” , dismantling all the old Covid protection screens and tidying up the mess left behind!

Apparently…A gigantic piece of cliff fell off one of the Canary Islands 120,000 years ago and produced one of the worlds biggest tsunamis. Scientists have predicted the next one is iminent with devastating results…

Yeah I seen a documentary about that a couple of years ago. It’s going to be devastating for lots of countries if the computer modelling is right.
