What Luxuries Do You Have Now

I think heating is essential rather than a luxury. We need to keep warm for own well being. What may be a luxury is central heating.
I remember back in the ice age when I was young we only had an open fire in the front room (no chimney just a fire in the middle of the floor :joy:) We used to have ice forming on the inside of the windows, Lino making it cold under foot. We didn’t hang around when getting washed and dressed :grinning:

Yes, I grew up like that too. The ice was thick inside the windows, it didn’t melt for days. The taps froze up and I had to walk for 2 miles to the well to fetch water and bring it back. True story…life in the North. :+1:

As Ernie said ā€˜Pasteurised is best’. :grinning:

You don’t know you were born, we had to walk 10 miles to the river twice a day (joking) :joy:

My heating is a ā€œ luxury ā€œ to me.…we all see things differently…and what luxury is.

The luxury of being in a warm home…

I guess if you look at it that way to some one with out a warm home and the means to achieve it then a warm home is a luxury. :slightly_smiling_face:

Yes, that’s how you see it

.sometimes some of us go deliberately without, …to appreciate the luxury when we receive it…in other words for me, going without is a good thing.

I could probably do without Mrs Fox, she is my greatest expenditure.
Perhaps renting one would work out cheaper…

Most people couldn’t actually afford to pay a wife real life wages for all the things they do…! Nanny, Chef, Cleaner, Carer, Taxi Driver…my goodness, hundreds of thousands a year it would cost :joy:

I believe you can.
There is a cleaner for well cleaning and a secretary for doing secretarial stuff and of course ahem a lady to take care of your desires.
But it does seem extravagant to employ three ladies when one, the aforementioned Mrs Fox already covers these areas.

A professional cuddler charges between $40 - $80 an hour. How much does a professional cuddler charge?

Perhaps once upon a time Pixie, but now you have got to pull her away from the TV and an empty bottle of red…

One out of three isn’t bad MrFraggle…

Depends on the type of cuddling required.

I’d agree that heating one’s home can be considered a luxury because I know some people that would have the means but decide to rather spend them on, say, gadgets and getaways.
Apart from a heated home I’d include internet and a car, in that order, all not being essential when you come to think of it but nice to have.

Hi

I am ill and self funding, so life has changed drastically.

My luxuries are very simple now, my fish tank and my good coffee.

I am happy with both.

Perhaps another ā€˜luxury’ to me, would be my dogs.
With their food and vets fees they don’t come cheap these days.
They have always been more of a necessity to me though. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I agree. I’d add 80 quid tax a year plus Ā£80 insurance. Her last operation set me back 600 quid. Really no bargain and who knows what is yet to come?
But I also agree with our former president who said about his pet: ā€œAs a dog he’s a catastrophe, as a human he’s indispensable.ā€ And one of my favourite comedians thought that life without a dog was possible but didn’t make sense. Quite.
