Good for her too.OGF, does she buy much? I am a collector, though some might say a hoarder, but I do sell as well, it’s just that sometimes you’ve got to keep ‘stuff’ at least for a while. :laughing: :laughing:

Getting involved in the stuff going on in the local community. Three weeks ago I was on a trailer decorated with pictures of various vegetables and chickens, pulled by a tractor through the village, dressed as a potato, alongside others dressed as chickens and carrots. Three weeks time its our village fete - steak night, and snail day. I’ll be manning the bar then helping serve the food. The laughter keeps me young.

She buys clothes mainly and handbags Tiff.
After a hard days shopping down town she can’t wait to show me what she’s bought with a ‘try on session’ “Look at these labels” she says
“M&S and Next, and all for a portion of the price” She keeps them a while and then has a massive sort out and takes them all back. Her wardrobe changes more often than the weather

In short, no.
I’ve been very fortunate. The local villages and people are mostly all very welcoming and friendly - but I do make an effort to integrate. There are one or two who are a bit more grudging - I’ve heard comments about:
You are ok because you are not really very foreign (yes, you know what that means - they vote for Le Pen)
You are ok if you pay your taxes here in France (entirely fair in my view)
You are part of the problems of rising house prices (that argument has disappeared as prices have been falling the last few years)
It could be worse, you might be from Paris

I’d also note that it varies across the country. New (British) friends moved to our village from further south. There, they said, the locals down south were less welcoming and the local farmers very unwelcoming. Likewise we know of people who hunt (for boar and deer) who dislike the British and our habit of walking our dogs through the places they want to hunt.
