One thing I did keep is an old advertising ornament for Dulux Paint. When I was a Teen I saw this in a small paint shop window and fell in love with it. You couldn’t buy them as they were made for shops only, I hungered after it for many years, then one day there was a closing down sale and I went in and spent ages begging the guy for the ornament, finally he gave in and let me have it (think he was sick of me) for Ten Pounds, I’ve treasured it ever since and they are now selling for around 800 pounds if it’s in mint condition, as mine is…

I love that.
Muddy, Just lately, a friend gave me a lift in his old vintage Mini, it was awful! So noisy. There were fumes coming out of an exposed pipe in front of me in the passenger seat. The ride was hard especially over potholes as there was no proper suspension! At 6ft 2, he looked ridiculous as the ceiling was nearly on his head!
I’d prefer my modern red BMW Mini Cooper any day!
With the internet & Ebay & Google now, it is easy to look up an item to see if it’s worth anything. I do it often.
Years ago we didn’t have the ability so lots of items got thrown away that were potentially valuable.
Having written that, a friend with no internet, on clearing out her late Aunts house, a few years ago, threw away a very, to her, ugly & very large china dog. When she told me & explained what it looked like, I was gobsmacked, it was a rare item made by Sylvac.
She now shows me anything to see if it’s worth anything & I look it up for her. She still hasn’t reached the 21st century.
Yeah, I remember it was cramped inside, my husband couldn’t drive it because he ended up with his knees up round his ears
The subframes used to rot, absolutely rubbish with speed humps what with the exhaust getting bashed, too low to the ground, noisy…I loved it :o
My friend has a BMW Mini Cooper convertible, I was jealous when she got it but she gave me a lift in it once and I found the interior felt empty and it was sort of echoey. It put me off them. Nice looking cars though
I threw out all the letters my husband sent me during the four years prior to our wedding, as I am not sentimental about that sort of thing. However, I am kicking myself for not keeping the one he sent me when he was 19, it was the love letter to beat all love letters. For the first time he experienced bleeding haemorrhoids, which he has been a martyr to since then. The letter gave me the full details of his condition in glorious technicolour. Looking back on it makes me giggle, and I often tease him about it, he can’t see what the problem is, which is typical of him.
Some Annuals. I had some Picture Show Annuals from America and don’t have a clue where they are now.
I wish I’d kept the cream coloured suit I got married in.
It was one of the latest fashions C & A had to offer.
My early motorbikes. During the early 50s and through the 60s. My Triumphs, Vincents and BSAs were a must for me. If only i had kept them til now in mint condition i would be a wealthy man.
An Anus Horribillis.
You can say that again. It has been my job ever since we married in 1969 to attend to his rear end when he was having problems. We hadn’t been married for more than a day or two, before I had to put a bag of frozen peas on it, to attempt to give him some ease!
You are wealthy with love.
I have seen them in the Motorbike museum, easy to steal.
Crikey! Was your honeymoon filmed by the Hammer House of Horror?
Of course!
I wish I’d kept my autograph book, my cousin worked at The Bristol Hippodrome and got me loads of autographs including Morecambe and Wise, Edmund Hockeridge, Bruce Forsythe and some I forget.
I also wish I’d kept my ID from S.Africa in the 80’s, it had my gun licence in it, I think it got left in an attic somewhere when moving along with my Pulsar Watch which someone very special gave me.
Strangely I have a photo of my gun licence.
As was mine
My two aunts used to holiday together ( they never married) during dinner they got talking to a couple at the next table who turned out to be Paul madleys parents ( a football player for Leeds United) as a kid I was mad on Leeds and a few weeks after their holiday I was sent a signed program from all the first team players even the manager Don revie, that would be worth a bit now, but goodness knows what happened to it…
I wish I had a kept a mink Jacket that had belonged to my mother. I wasn’t thinking as I was so upset. If I had kept it, I could have made two cute teddy bears with it…
Most people here are thinking how much they could sell ‘it’ for now.
A sad sign of the times?
:-(
Guilty!
Except my guitar, I would keep that forever if I could get it back.
