What is the difference between Scotch and Bourbon?

What is Southern Comfort?

Horrible!

Decent film though…

I always thought that Americans called scotch (whisky) … bourbon.

Southern Comfort is a whisky based liquer? I think. I’m probably wrong.

The principle difference is the letter ‘e’. Only Scotch is spelt whisky.
Then there are differences in distilling (how many times) and in maturing (how long and in what barrels) and which grain is used (barley or rye).

The Irish also introduced Whiskey to the USA to make sure their Whiskey was not confused with Scotch.
