Australia’s MCG is our largest with a capacity of 100,024 People.
I attended the 1979 VFL Grand Final with a crowd of 113,545 People.
In 1970, 121,696 attended Carlton Collingwood Grand Final.
Seating capacity was downgraded to 100,024 people due to Health and Safety concerns in 2005 for the hosting of the 2006 Commonwealth Games.
In 1959 143,750 people attended a Billy Graham Evangelical Crusade at the MCG, (including on the oval itself)

Aerial photo of Croke Park, Dublin. Headquarters of the GAA (Gaelic Athletic Association) this aerial view is from Hill 16 looking twoards the Canal end. With a capacity for 82,000 spectators this has been the venue for large concerts including U2, Robbie Williams and Tina Turner. U2 are due to play here again

when concert was on

Just because it’s big, doesn’t make it better (or so the wife tells me).

I’d rather go to a concert at a venue with a capacity of less than 3,000 people any day of the week, than stand in a crowd of over 50,000, not that I ever have. The biggest crowd for me was 10,000 at Manchester Arena, although I did go to listen to Oasis last summer at Heaton Park - Manchester, but I was one of the ‘poor’ people on Gallagher Hill, I couldn’t afford the ‘dynamic prices’ of their official tickets.
Yep!
As far as music is concerned give me a more intimate venue almost every time. I have fond memories of this place…
Doesn’t exist anymore of course!
Doncaster Rovers Keepmoat Stadium room for 15,000 seated spectators.
I’ve never actually been to a football match there (or any other football match) but I’ve walked around the lake thousands of times…There is a running track outside that hosts Doncaster Athletic Club.
I was a member of the Stainforth Athletic Club where I was born, but didn’t like the club selling out to Doncaster AC. Stainforth had lots of history and produced many good runners over the years, now it’s hid away in a small corner of the stadium.
Wembley is listed as 90,000 capacity. Twickenham 82,000. Charlton Athletic is about 27,111 - a local football club.
The Milan San Siro stadium has the largest capacity - 75, 900, less for concerts.
Principality Stadium Cardiff (used to be called Cardiff Arms Park in the good old days) just under 74,000.Lots of empty seats for rugby matches these days. ![]()
Is that the stadium that was rotated 90 degrees?
Yes.The Arms Park was knocked down in the 80’s,the National Stadium in the 90’s.
The latest one has lasted a lot longer. ![]()
I was led to believe it was Wembley Stadium, although I could be wrong. Only been there twice in my life, first time was to see Pink Floyd and the other time was when I took my wife to see Celine Dion.
