What do you think is the most overused phrase by businesses?

On a less serious note there’s something that’s been irritating me for quite a while in retail, more and more merchandise is packaged with the words limited edition plastered over them.

I picked up a limited edition sandwich in Tesco, maybe I should have put it in the attic. Antiques Roadshow here I come.

Maybe not so much in business, but this tends to be used after some tragedy……lessons will be learnt….until the next tragedy

There are probably too many and they keep changing, also highly subjective. Revolutionary is one but alternatives aren’t any better: unique, groundbreaking, disruptive, pioneering, trailblazing? My pet peeves are authentic, fun, passion.

Blue sky thinking, or thinking outside the box. Before that it was called lateral thinking.

When I were a lad it was just called thinking.

“Do you know who you spoke to?”

Ongoing. I detest that word.

Your call is important to us.

“Our mission is to rob, cheat and steal from customers and staff to make our board room a nicer place.”

You don’t see many of them around but that’s what they all mean.

Some of you are using strong words for a trifle. Where does this profound aversion come from?

For me it’s because they are all trying to make people think their aim is to make the world a better place but all they really want to do is make money. They are telling fibs.

So it’s not only governments and institutions that belong to the usual suspects but companies as well.

Wealth creators should have carte blanche.

Yes it is.
One example - Woolworths Supermarkets continue to say - “We feel your pain”
whilst posting a $900 million 6 month profit result.
