What Do You Think About These?

Yes, you did it! These are antique Murano Salviati stemware filled with flecks of gold.

I had them wrapped up ready to give away to a local charity that takes in and rehomes abandoned animals.

As I was rewrapping them up, I kept thinking, there had to be some reason why someone would keep something like this, so I got to Googling and discovered what you did!

So what would you do with them if you were in my shoes and how much do you think they are worth?

I am not an expert on things like this, so couldn’t even guess.
You need to get them valued by someone who knows about such things.
Good luck.

(You realise it’ll be drinks all round when you become a millionairess)?

How fascinating … it looks like dolphin stemmed glassware is popular.

Apparently it’s antique salviati murano Italian dolphin stemware

This set of 10 are worth $100. Not exactly the same.

This green one has a swan stem and is worth over $300

Well I think they are totally beautiful vintage pieces. Not for practical purposes of course, but to have behind a glass display cabinet so you can admire the way the light shines through them. I would guess Mom that someone on the East Coast would be very interested in doing exactly just that with this exquisite collection and would doubtless be happy to drive over to you to inspect and collect them.

If I were you mom I would get them professionally photographed for an online site specialising in vintage glass and china on condition that the buyer collects. I do hope they go to a good home because they are simply stunning, harking back to a different era.

Alternatively you could donate the collection to a museum or art gallery.

I absolutely love those, if I had a display cabinet, I would put them in there, for me they look like show pieces, I would not allow anyone to drink out of them, they would be for display purposes only,:heartpulse:

Ha, there is some truth in that! As it turns out my husband’s uncle started an ambulance service in the 1920s in San Fransisco that flourished. They bought a home high on a hill that overlooked the city, and she apparently filled it with expensive treasures. Apparently they liked to entertain; last I unpacked no fewer than six different china patterns and three sterling patterns.

Unfortunately, I have no way to store and keep it all, so we have decided to have someone come to the house to put a value to it, and then we will decide what to do with it all.

As for the dolphin stemware, we have agreed that since we were on the verge of chucking it anyway, we are going to give it to an upscale resale shop not far from us, in which all the proceeds go to a dog and cat rescue organization that is always desperately in need. They have the staff who can do the legwork on selling this stemware for the best possible price. I will keep you all posted on how it turns out.

Who knows!! :flushed: [Screen Shot 2022-02-13 at 4.58.15 PM|330x600]

More digging this afternoon; apparently I have to sell a vase or two to cover the next round. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: :clinking_glasses:
