What do you enjoy for fun when you’re not travelling?

Hi everyone, I’m semi-retired from engineering and still very fond of my road trips and little adventures. I can’t be on the road all the time though, and I’m realising that the “ordinary” days at home are just as important.

For those of you who are retired or semi-retired, what do you enjoy these days for a bit of fun? Any hobbies, routines, groups or small things that really brighten your week when you’re not away?

Do you lean more towards quiet pleasures at home, or do you like getting out and about locally – walks, coffee, games, volunteering, that sort of thing?

I’d love to pinch a few ideas from people who’ve found a good balance between putting their feet up and still having things to look forward to.

Going to concerts, when the second half starts and we can stand up and dance ,and. sing along Im back in my teenage years.
At the end of the night I feel revitalise

When not attending to the needs of the house, I do a lot of photography either wildlife, models/fashion or doing paid events. But that tends to be seasonal for some reason and when I can fit it in with other things. When I’m not doing that, I guess I spend a lot of the time writing or generally messing around on my PC. I always looking around for other interests, but options around where I live tend to be limited.

Hi

I used to enjoy travelling, especially SE Asia and off the tourist route.

I also used to enjoy angling, especially competitive angling.

We call it match fishing here in the UK.

I am now of very limited mobility, so I have downsized to a smaller house and no longer drive.

Life has changed massively but is still interesting.

I live downstairs on a hospital bed, with an aquarium at either end of it.

One tropical and one marine, the marine being a reef tank, full of corals.

I run them myself, only needing help with water changes.

Very interesting, I breed the fish in both tanks.

I cook as often as I can, which is not every day, a lot of fresh veg, herbs and spices, a lot of which I grow in the garden.

I enjoy different types of food and when abroad I have done a number of cookery courses.

My garden is covered with cameras, so I can watch the wildlife, my small pond and bird boxes and feeders.

I watch a lot of TV, mostly travel and wildllfe and Cirque du Soleil.

I travelled afar to see their live shows.

I am learning 2 languages, Tagalog and Tamil.

Useful when you are in hospital, the nurses are often Filipino or from Kerala.

They speak their native languages amongst themselves, some amazing conversations.

You have to keep your mind active.Live is never boring, great fun and interesting.

I have no intention at all of dying a miserable, moaning old man, I tend to die telling a joke.
