I am just beginning the ‘Inspector Gently’ books by Alan Hunter. Apparently there are 46 - so that should keep me quiet for a while.
I’m into “The Ants” by Edward Wilson, and a book of letters written by Norwegian immigrants (to America) in the 1800s. Also, one of the Miss Read series, though it’s on another floor and I can’t remember its title. :O)
I tried a game of thrones but got about 50 pages in and decided life was too short so abandoned that one, now reading unexpected world by Chris pike first part of the emp survivor series has great reviews so hopeful it will be good.
The first Tudors .
I like history
I’d like to settle down with a library book at some point, but my newspapers are backing up, plus I’ve been so busy. I have 6 to choose from.
“Missing, Presumed” by Susie Steiner.
This is the best crime novel I’ve read in a very long time.
It’s stylish, witty and utterly compelling.
The characters are drawn beautifully.
I’ve just ordered The Tenant of Wildfell Hall and Agnes Grey both by Anne Bronte. I can’t wait until they get here. Should keep me entertained for some time.
Started a Graham Hurley this afternoon. Western Approaches.
Nothing to do with cowboys and indians, lol. Set in Devon and Cornwall, genre - crime.
Im reading Secrets of Priors Ford atm by Evelyn Hood…
Currently reading Death is Golden, the third book in the Three feet of sky series by Stephen Ayres.
These books are probably the strangest I have ever read and sometimes the funniest. Anyone who likes the weird and wonderful should give them a go. WARNING; Not for those that are offended by bad language and mindless violence.
Lots of Glam Rock murders in the second & third books
Quarantine by Jim Grace. A sort of alternative story of Jesus. The 1997 Whitbread novel of the year. It´s a somewhat strange story, but very interesting.
Over the weekend I read Fantastic Beasts by JK Rowling was sorry when it ended. I have now moved onto Alfie and George by Rachel Wells
Stargate sg1 hostile ground it’s an interesting concept bringing the Atlantis villains into play with the goauld with SG1 stuck on a dhd free planet unable to get home ! Loving it.
Bridget Jones’ Diary and after that one is finished, Agnes Grey.
Before BJD I just read The Hunger Games.
Until You’re Mine (Samantha Hayes)
Excellent
I’m just starting a book called “The Forgotten Garden” by Kate Morton, which looks rather promising.
I do like a book I can get into in the first page or two, and this one is so.
I adore Kate Morton’s books!
I’ve just begun Apple Tree Yard by Louise Doughty.
It’s good!!
(It’s a new drama on TV Sunday)
