What Are Your Musical Abilities?

I love this so, so much, Rose!

I have zero talent. Zero.

But my mother, who believed a well-rounded education was the spice of life plunked me down at the piano from the time I was eight. She eventually put a flute in my hands and a fuzzy shako on my head and pointed me into the direction of the high school marching band. The band leader looked at my eighty pound frame and decided I should march with the tri-toms, which nearly killed me .

I eventually took my mediocre skills and formed a garage band with some friends (didn’t we all in California in those days?)

I still pick out a few songs on the piano :hear_no_evil:, and thanks to my mom, fill the house with music and also passed down the edict of some sort of music education for my children.

I still have zero ability :woman_shrugging:, but I sure love me some music though, and concerts are pure joy because I admire refined talent more than just about anything.

I’m saving my pennies to torture…I mean educate…my future grandkids too :sunglasses:.

Similar for me.

@Chilliboot Over the years my abilities have become extensive, but alas, my old lungs now prevent me from providing a good controlled ‘puff’ to leave me with non wind instruments and as an avid bagpipe player years ago I have to content myself with the Uillean Pipes.

Didn’t you once post something about purchasing a custom made hurdy gurdy LongDriver?
It could be my memory playing tricks on me…

I sing/mumble like Morrissey, can hold a tune but always forget the words.

My musical abilities were very limited to my whistling ways in earlier days. Oh wait, that was being whistled at! Sorry…:stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

This is my trusty Fender Strat, or as my wife would say “noise polluter”. Had it years and managed to get some level of proficiency, but “real life” and work got in the way and never really had the time to take it seriously. I have always had the hankering to pick it back up and give it a go sometime and maybe I will.
As for any ability, that’s a matter of opinion.

A beaut, and unusual colour.

It’s Lake Placid blue, which attracted me to it when I bought it. The pickup covers and knobs have faded to off-white and if I decide to play again I may decide to replace them with new ones.

I had a “Blonde” 73 USA Strat, go figure.

my piano teacher told my parents they were wasting their money (but she putted it nicer than that).I think that may answer your question :grinning:

Being in the string section, one had to put up with a lot of cats being strangled  :icon_wink:

I am interested in all instruments and given the chance will add to my extensive collection. My collection is in the large basement/safe room, so it does not impinge on my wife’s converted spaces

EDITED to add :point_right: I am 'inflicted’:grin: by ASMR and almost all musical sounds thrill me beyond descriptive words.
What Is ASMR? (Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response)
As an example, when I play my Uillean Pipes close to the below, I have to physically restrain my urges to move in extraordinary ways.

Sounds x-rated to me.

I was once the soloist in the school choir.
But that was a century or two ago now but I always sing along when I’m in the car…with the windows wound up.
