What are you listening to right now?

Yes a nice voice but a bit short in the leg dept.

Deportee - Joan Baez (Spotify)

My wife’s favourite and her favourite singer.

That took me back down Memory Lane to the early 60s, AB … a friend and I went to the Hippodrome to see David Whitfield and after the show we queued at the stage door to get his autograph! We were thrilled to bits!

My wife did the same at Blackpool and it was all she could talk about for days.

It was a shame he died so relatively young:-(

Sorry Mags, she who must be obeyed has told me to get it right, It was the Winter Gardens in Morecambe not Blackpool.

For all the OFFers

American Pie - Don Maclean (Spotify)

Splendid choice Eileen, I love his voice. he does a great job of that old Irish favourite ‘Mountains O’Mourne’.

Jean used to live within sight of them, in fact standing in her back garden you were looking straight at them!!!

Matilda - Harry Belafonte (Spotify)

I’d never heard of that one, Jem, so found it and liked it enough to add it to my Spotify. Thanks! Are there any similar folk songs you’d recommend also?

There was another very popular song written and performed by your own Johnny Cash after he made a visit here in the early 60’s, I think it made No.1 over here, ‘Forty shades of green’, different from what he usually does.

Thanks, I’ll give that a look.

Here it is Jimmy.
