Tonight we are going to a Chinese Restaurant to celebrate my Husband’s birthday.
With Banana fritters, toffee sauce and icecream to round it off no doubt Susie darlin’
No cooked meal for me today, we usually just have a snack on Saturdays.
Mags darlin’ - that’s not good. With the heavy frost and continuing cold we have you need something warming and substantial to keep the body warm and aid it fighting off any infection.
Today I had fish 'n chips for lunch.
Uncle Joe, no desserts for us, we don’t really eat much desserts. We had Grilled Dumplings, Chicken Satay, Chicken Curry & Singapore Noodles, washed down with Chinese Green Tea.
Roast beef, roast root veg and spring green. I made apple cake but we were too full at lunchtime…just tucked into it…
chicken broth with lots of barley, lentils, split peas ,carrot, onions, leeks, celery am fighting off a chest infection so need good nourishing things. Off to sons tomorrow for tea, we play a guessing game other people play what are we having for tea, we play what did we have for tea. If there’s a jar of apple sauce it was pork,if mint sauce then it’s lamb, nothing then it must be beef. Mind you they’ve only been married 16 years.Even her own Mum says she doesn’t know how she manages it, everything tastes the same, it’s either overcooked or undercooked, her almost raw sprouts were a masterpeice.:surprised: Even I couldn’t manage the raw cabbage.
That reminds me Mollie have I missed your new gnashers.:-D:-D
The Chicken broth sounds very nice Hazel.
We are having Piri Piri Chicken, roast potatoes, carrots & swede.
Sorting through old recipe books this morning…with a view to discarding a few…and ended up reading some very old ones
I have a small piece of roast beef over from the weekend and found a recipe using tinned toms, baked beans, onions, potatoes and cheese. So guess what is for dinner today?
(that’s one recipe book I’ll be keeping
)
I got it wrong I thought it was pork, it was topside the dog got a big supper.:-(![]()
Bangers, mash and veg, with gravy. Stil have some mincemeat fruit loaf left so may put some in a dish again and smother in custard.
A roast lamb dinner. We should have had it yesterday but we got sidetracked.
Tonight is homemade Sausage Stew with slices of Best of Both bread, a nice winter warmer.
Aaaarrrgghh! You don’t put tomatoes in with corned beef hash! That would be a travesty.
The way I make mine is with one tin corned beef, sliced carrots, chopped onions and chopped potatoes. Put carrots and onions in a pan and bring to the boil, adding the potatoes about 10 minutes later. There should only be enough water to cover these ingredients. Then, when the carrots etc are cooked through, add the corned beef in cubes, black pepper and a beef stock cube (optional) and cook until the potato starts to fall apart. It should be of a thickish consistency. Serve with red pickled cabbage and/or pickled beetroot, and add a dash of brown sauce of desired.
Incidentally, my recipe should make enough for a good four dollops!
We had tuna mayonnaise with jacket spud for our lunch today, and two slices of home made wholemeal bread and butter with Marmite for our tea… lovely…
Bought a beef joint last Friday. Roasted it in slow cooker last night, sliced some of it and had had that with all the trimmings earlier today. There is still quite a lot of the beef joint left, so will cut more off tomorrow and make a beef stew with suet dumplings.
I put a post on here today (or so I thought) about my lovely stir fry…the post isn’t here
Please don’t tell me I put it on a serious thread
