And Crispy Duck (which is not crispy btw)
Well, Britain used to be “Great”, if not a bit drab, now its Cheap and Cheerful ![]()
Re Samsung phones, Google AI says
Samsung phones are primarily made in large, highly automated factories in Vietnam and India, with production also occurring in other locations like South Korea, Brazil and Indonesia, as *Samsung has shifted most manufacturing away from China to lower costs and diversify its supply chain.
Hi
We can’t make our own at the same price as others can make things.
A huge part of this is our stupid electricity prices, the highest in the world.
An example, we pay our windfarms to turn off when there is an over supply.
Germany amongst others doesn’t do that, thay just give the surplus free of charge to Industry, which basically means the German Nightshifts are making huge profits.
They smelt huge amounts of aluminium at nights, when we are closing aluminium smelters and paying to import it.
The same applies to electric ark furnaces for making steel.
It is called shooting ourselves in the foot.
And we are buggering about with net zero and penalizing our industries and energy producers for using fossil fuels and producing too much CO2.
A lot of our remote and offshore wind farms are not even connected to the grid yet.
We’re going to need an awful lot of copper wire…
Nowadays they make most of the worlds ‘quality’ products, but they are badged elsewhere then claimed to be made in that country!!
That’s the problem as you become more successful people expect to share in that success driving up prices. China now has a vast wealthy middle class.
Manufacturers move to other low wage countries.
It’s not my understanding of a communist system
Exactly what I was thinking. What are communist elements of the Chinese economy that people benefit from? The one-party dictatorship is communist but not the economy.
Mao Zedong might give you an argument Dachs…
Although he did some bad stuff, his legacy is the basis of what China is today.
Thought that was Mouse-tongue ![]()
Agree. Where there is demand, there’s supply. Apart from brick-n-mortar stuff people increasingly buy from Temu and other platforms although they know how toxic many products are.
This is true from what I’ve learnt these past couple of years. They have lifted 800M people out of poverty (who were only there because of ‘Westminsters’ disgusting opium war!). Pretty much everyone there has a home for life and access to reasonably priced freshly grown fruit veg and meat.
Most of what we’ve been told here is propaganda - because the ruling classes in this country and most of the West don’t want us to know socialism and communism (i.e, SOCIETY and COMMUNITY) actually works and is better for most people. It’s all unravelling though, and more and more people are waking up - the greedy ruling classes and their enablers have their days numbered.
Problem with that is, there are plenty of penniless wannabes who were sold a story, and believed it.
Which story were they sold/believed?
The dream, for the working classes, but, working is an essential criteria to achieve it
Yep - it was a lie - people have been working all their lives, some with two or three jobs yet still not managing to pay their bills let alone ‘live the dream’.
I’m glad people are waking up. Revolution is definitely in the air! ![]()
Things get complicated, if you let it Azz, there is a framework, if you use it to better yourself from your beginnings, that is success surely.
That means tolerating the mega rich.
