We received our Notification of this year’s Winter Fuel Allowance this morning… no change. It will be paid into the bank within the next three weeks.

Every little helps!

I was hoping to get it but am still unsure of the eligibility. I always thought it was given to those of State Pension age, at which I now am. But I am also led to believe the person had to be born a certain date to qualify.

Pah! Foiled again.

No actually. I qualify! Huzzah…:lol::lol:

You should get it Jazzi. My wife got her notification today. Mine usually follows a couple of weeks later.

Good news Jazzi!

Good Jazzi. I lost out on the first two years because I did not apply for it because I thought I did not qualify until I was 65.

I’ll keep a look out for mine. I’ve just ordered a top-up of oil - I recon that’s about £280, so less £200 - not bad for 8 months.

Why do you get two notifications if you are married ?
I though that marrieds just get one !

Do you have to be on pension credit or not?

No Malcolm husband and wife are now paid separately.

Thanks scot37 I seem to learn something new every day

No Mups. We have never been on pension credit and we get it.

Thanks Scot.

My wife has hers but I have had nothing so far. Why they can’t put the two in one envelope beats me, oh forgot it is another way of wasting tax payers money

Mine’s going towards a new kitchen floor to seal off the draughts …

I just had a letter telling me that my Mother-in-Law will be sent £300 fuel allowance.

Being as she is in a Care Home how much more money are they wasting?

My wife spends hers on clothes:-(

I don’t think I’ll get it until I’m 67 when I get my pension. My millionaire sister gets it though, I doubt she even notices it.
If you don’t qualify but are on certain benefits such as Dla you can claim Warm Home Discount on your electricity but you have to do it this month I think.

No Tessa you can’t claim if your on DLA you have to be on pension credits, I’m on the top rate of DLA and was turned down because I do not receive any type of pension credit.

I checked out the website, and this year it’s for people born before ?? January 1953. I’m September 52, so qualify. Thought I would, as I’ve started my State Pension.

I presume I just wait to hear from them, do I?

How do you apply? Don’t they write to you?
