Watching 80s music in particular TOTP

I was just watching TOTP 1984 and I thought - isn’t it strange that I watch this and it doesn’t feel like it’s nearly 40 years ago. Do you ever feel you just identify with the past as if it’s yesterday and when you see these people now it seems incongruous?

Is this because our brains have more of a connection with the music of our most physically vital years when emotions were heightened and everything was new and shiny than with what followed? So in the 80s when I was drooling over Duran Duran and reading my Jackie magazines, some were looking back at the 40s movies and seeing those as exciting stuff?
