Here in Western Australia we have a tiny, (5 mm) colourful Peacock Spider who likes to show off his moves to impress the ladies.
My BH goes out at night photoing spiders/insects/moths.She’s desperate to find this one ![]()
Fascinating spider but would imagine not active displaying perhaps not even moving at night thus impossible to find add tiny ?
I imagine she has seen scorpions ?
Australia has unusual wild life only found there I was saddened to hear and read how much of nature is being bulldozed .
It is a continual thing. The destruction of nature and habitat loss with pitiful penalties.
Sickening in the extreme.
When I was a kid which seems like a 100 years now Australia was looked at as a country very much into nature and more the better but yes things have changed
Just this week, 65 mature trees in an inner-city park were mistakenly cut down.
Only 11 were slated for removal
An apology was offered by the Mayor.
“We will plant 94 new trees”
These were major, mature trees.
A development we protested about had a row of mature trees to be axed.
The council said they had a re-think due to public outcry BUT nearly a year later most of them are dying.Poisoned of course. ![]()
USA is worse and more so now with this current President but here in Miami we won the fight to save a huge piece of wild land home to endangered bats .
I went to Town hall meetings as did my neighbors .
Years ago when I was young I had MANY fist fights and I fought some retired low level Mobsters son who came to my house to give props to the fight , lol as we both went at it .
My father almost had a heart attack and the man told me the real fights , the difficult fights , the fights that beat you and test you are the fights of life and those who try to improve things , change things for the better those are the real fighters as street fights are easy compared to those .
Miami Wilds Stalls as Commissioners Withdraw Proposal in Victory for Endangered Wildlife
Mayor Committed to Rescinding Development Lease Agreement
“I’m relieved that commissioners didn’t recommit to this ill-conceived plan in this meeting, but the threat isn’t gone,” said attorney Elise Bennett, Florida and Caribbean director at the Center for Biological Diversity. “The county needs to take additional steps to ensure the future of this incredibly rare and biodiverse ecosystem. We’re counting on the commission to banish this specter looming over the pine rocklands so we can focus on a new vision that supports Miamians who love this place and the endangered animals and plants who live here.”
I always expected more of Australians then the USA as Australians were VERY much into saving nature decades ago in fact you taught us how .
