Because the press feeds on publicity, the more sordid the better.
This is the part of celebrity I don’t get. Your a famous actor/actress or you’re a famous performer. I don’t care who you date, what you wear, what you drive, where or what you eat. I don’t care anymore about your personal life than I do my plumber. I just care whether you can fix the ruddy sink.

you still will be able to susan, at a later date. I get some people want to hear about them but personally I can’t abide the pair of them.

I wish they’d fade into obscurity too and be the ‘ordinary’ people they claim they want to be.
He just comes over as a bit drippy and she comes over as conniving and … together they attach obscenely big pay cheques to everything they do.

The press considers them newsworthy, they sell newspapers.
It is easy to avoid them, don’t read the reports.
Keyboard warriors love them.
