Vote of no confidence in Boris Johnson - Tory rebels wait for Boris Johnson to ‘blow himself up’

Not needed. His actions make it very clear. He HAS to go along with the whole Front Bench.

I don’t need him to tell me, or read his mind, his actions spell it out very clearly …

Cor strewth, patience. It’s a process did you really expect it all to happen overnight.

And what actions would that be.

It’s your opinion and my opinion differs to yours So my duck is going in the opposite direction to yours.

Yes. Immediate independence and secure borders straight into WTO followed by negotiated arrangements covering matters such as recognition of things such as driving license recognition etc.

Dear god, do you REALLY need them spelling out? Just look around.

And how long will it take to build a wall around our coastline. I don’t drive along with millions of others.

I do and see different things than you do.

We don’t need a physical wall, all we need is an end to this open door welcoming of the CRIMINALS coming into the UK by their thousands. Oh yes, a few armed patrol boats crewed by people willing to shoot the rats would do the job.

Better go to socio-political specsavers then.

And you think Labour will solve the problem.

It’s a very good question. In my opinion a term of Labour government is needed in order to swing the political pendulum away from the present awful and simply cruel position it is presently in. Better would be a coalition government of some sort but the bottom line is that what we have now is utterly disgusting and views the electorate as a resource to be exploited and while that’s fine in a commercial endeavour it absolutely is not when it comes to governing a nation.

Thats not entirely true, Maree. Johnson was a journalist slating the EU before he entered politics, all he did was consider his decision before making it.

Brexit is absolutely the right thing for the UK. Boris was not just a big turning point in the 2016 referendum when he decided which way he would vote but he delivered on Brexit when May, Robbins, Hunt, Blair, Sturgeon and Clegg were all going behind our backs trying to shaft the country, the voters and our democracy. There was only one deal on the table thanks to how May had shafted Brexit by the Chequers deal and if you remember, Boris resigned from his position as Foreign Secretary so I don’t doing this for the sake of his career.

  • The vote was triggered after at least 54 Conservative MPs sent letters to Sir Graham Brady, the chairman of the 1922 committee of backbench MPs. He said he notified the PM on Sunday
  • The secret ballot will be held between 18:00 and 20:00 BST, with votes counted immediately afterwards
  • At least 180 Conservative MPs would have to vote against Johnson for him to stand down as party leader and prime minister
  • No 10 said Johnson “welcomes the chance to make his case to his case to MPs” and the vote is “a chance to end months of speculation”
  • The PM’s team have sent a document to Tory MPs saying they should back him in the vote to allow ministers to focus on the war in Ukraine and the rising cost of living in the UK
  • Most of the PM’s cabinet have publicly declared they will back him in the vote, but other Tory MPs have urged colleagues to vote against him

BJ will win the vote but his remaining tenure as PM will be short rather than long … :dagger:

Winning the vote does not mean PM won’t lose in the long run

If Johnson wins tonight, and at least 180 MPs vote in favour of him, he will remain as leader and be immune from another no confidence vote for a year.

But the BBC’s Nick Robinson points out that recent prime ministers who have “won” confidence votes have gone on to lose in the longer term - Margaret Thatcher resigned eight days after winning, Theresa May did the same within six months, and John Major lost to Tony Blair in a landslide at the general election.

However, he says he believes Johnson is willing to fight for the job - and “will probably cling on and wait for something to turn up”.

No resignations yet …

I have a feeling that everyone will be in a jolly mood after the long weekend, and this will play a part in having some folk change their minds about BJ being the bad guy after all. :woman_shrugging: Just a passing thought.

Could well be…

Another factor is the 2019 intake of MP’s from the Red Wall seats who see Johnsons flakey leadership a threat to their 80K salaries (plus expenses) and without him will need to find another job quickly at the next election if they aren’t careful.

They may well vote in favour of him to save their own jobs.

Aye possibly. Which in retrospect, doesn’t make them very good at their jobs really…saving themselves rather than the people they represent. So they should all go…

Agreed PK :023:

There is also a lot of remainer hags in the back benches plotting to overturn Brexit which has a lot more to do with this than parties in Number 10.
