Terry pratchetts book are good. I’m getting back into reading again thanks to kindle. So good being able to make the letters bigger and kindle never loses my place either.lol

I stopped smoking after my first heart attack in 2004.
Ha Ha…When important people called me ‘Robert’ It never had a happy ending…

You are exactly right there Mayhem. When my dear old grandma called me Terence and waved her finger at me I knew I was in trouble.

Wow, just a couple then,lol. When I moved here I decided to go fairly minimalist, wanted it easy to maintain etc and now since discovering kindle I only have a few books, I must admit though there’s nothing nicer than mooching through a bookcase and the smell of books.

Did you find it easy to stop? I did once I accepted it wasn’t about the actual cigarette, it was about me changing routines and habits.
Haha, it’s strange how things stay with us. People shorten one of my brothers names to rik, and daft as it sounds I hate it, I can’t call him it.
With my old Nan, she would use both of my given names and then I definitely knew I was in trouble.
One of my golden retrievers, but sadly passed away a long time ago. But i sometimes change the avatar pic, at the moment it’s barely a berry that we have now.
Before i joined any forums, i noticed that hubby used a different one of our Goldie’s on his forums.
Before 2004 I had tried a few times to stop smoking Mayhem, but eventually realised that I liked to have a smoke and it was so relaxing. Only if you could keep it in defined limits though.
So I would only smoke one every hour. This worked very well for the couple of years I used this method, and it meant that I was only smoking 16 per day. Driving around the country in my van as a self employed courier, It was nice to wait excitingly until the next hour. And by gum! I would enjoy every fag instead of smoking for smokings sake…
I had been a long, and ultra long distance runner since 1978 running fell runs in excess of 60 miles, I also ran 36 full marathons and a collection of other road and fell races.
So it was such a surprise to me and everyone who knew me that in 2004 I had a heart attack.
I always thought that smoking would affect my lungs as a runner, but it never did. What it did do, was block up my pipes and I never suspected a thing until that day.
During that 5 day stay in hospital I did not have a cigarette, and to this day I haven’t had one since, or wanted one. So despite my early futile attempts to stop, I found it so easy now to give up smoking. It just goes to show, when the time is right it’s easy.
Cosmos is my name I use , because my husband planted these for me in my garden, the last time he did any gardening before his stroke

The Terry Pratchett Usernames reminds me of a couple of good friends I know very well!
They were both members of a friendship / dating forum where members organised group meets.
One of them had the Username of “Rincewind” and the other’s username was “Lady” - they met on a group meet and became a couple.
They were smitten with each other on that first meeting and ended up sailing off into the sunset together on a canal boat called “Luggage”
For those of you who have read the Terry Pratchett Discworld novels, you may appreciate the aptness of this!
