USB flash drive

Like everything else woth seeing how it goes

Just been watching about adding extra storage for my Panasonic G9ii camera. so ordered a Samsung USB Type-C 256GB 400MB/s USB 3.1 Flash Drive. only £19 so worth a punt
why ? well videos take up a lot of memory space hence the purchase. It is arriving tomorror.
The idea is to keep and use the two SD cards for photos and the flash drive for videos.the downside if one calls it that is the type C port on the camera is also used to charge the camera up which it won’t do with the flash drive camera settings. I use a seperate charger anyway.
Will have to check for overheating but short vidoe bursts should be ok

Here it is in my camera
Normally I would use 2 sandisk128GB SD memory cards . This adds another 256 GB to the camea memory capacity. Just a simple one move in the menu. It is either cards or stick not both together.

Never understood your obsession with large SD/storage. To a limited extent I can understand it with your video camera but a still camera? No.

How many shots do you take in a day? when do you transfer them to your computer?

My 32Gb SD card in my Lumix even on a long trip lasting weeks is rarely one third full, every night I transfer the shots to my computer as a back up anyway.

I realise that you have a different camera with different shot sizes but none the less 256GB plus 256GB seems absurdly massive overkill to me. It just takes longer for the camera to find the space to put the next shot and longer to download what you have taken.

A back of the envelope calculation shows that using 256 gb storing RAW images at maximum pixels , you could store about 1600 images. You take this many in a day, week, month?

BTW I only use 32GB SD because it is harder and uneconomic to buy smaller.
