Good luck with the clipping Jazzi.
Did you remember some clipper oil for the blade first?
May I suggest you turn the clippers on and just show her first, let her hear the sound it makes, and then just put the barrel of the clipper against her body so she can feel the vibration of it before you try to actually start clipping. I wouldn’t just hold her and start cutting all in one go.
Good luck.
Our local pet superstore offers the same service, all in including towels and drier for £5 for 15 minutes. We use it perhaps twice a year when we give the boys a full shampooing, we don’t do it any more often than that as we don’t think it good for their skin to keep removing their natural oils.
Back to the grooming though, we started by just brushing them for a few minutes every evening up on the table to get them used to being handled and to build their confidence, so then we encountered very few problems once we started clipping them as well.
Thank you everyone! She can now do all the things other puppies and dogs can do, starting off with puppy class! I have already texted the trainer and she says there will always be a place ready for her, so we can start next week.
Brilliant news again Jazzi. Perhaps you could tell them about the problem you have with her picking rubbish up and they could teach you the “Leave” exercise to do with her.
BTW, don’t forget her new winter coat if you’re going to clip her, they are talking of cold again next week.
It’s like having a kid all over again isn’t it.
She has her coat on when we go out (but at times it has been mild, so I’ve left it off), but I will most probably hold off clipping for awhile. I love the scruffy look.
Just tried her new car harness. Had to fully adjust the side straps as they were too long, but the bit that fits over her head only just about does it! Had to choose the extra small, but have a feeling I’ll be passing this on before too long, (yes as measured her girth) and getting a bigger size.
