A 25 year old Pommie backpacker has been gaoled for four years for killing a pedestrian while riding an e-scooter while drunk in Perth.
Those e-scooters are another example of a brilliant idea in theory, but a menace in reality. Recently, I was making a left turn (remember we drive on the right) when one suddenly appeared going at the speed of light coming from my left. Only because I’ve driving since they first carved out a wheel from a stump did I make a last glance to the right, narrowly missing the driver. One solution is to take the “e” out of them.
Tragic for everyone.

If he had killed a kangaroo instead of a pedestrian he would have got a 10 yr prison term
Whether riding an e-scooter or driving a car I’m afraid I don’t have any sympathy for anyone who is drunk and manages to injure or take another person’s life.
4 years seems lenient.
