When was the last time your car spare tyre pressure was checked. just been to check the one on the Nissan and it was 45PSI and it should have been 60PSI, according to what was on the tyre. At least checking at home in the garage is far better than on an open road when its raining. Many cars now only have this liquid stuff for fixing a puncture. I am thinking far better to get an emergency tyre than this alternative.
I insisted on Sues Honda she had a proper spare/emergency tyre and thank goodness i did when she hit a pothole. The first thing the guy came asked if she had one which saved the trouble of a tow/lift to the local garage.
The Moho tyres are inflated to 85 psi, our electric pump can just about reach that.
In the van I got nicked, I got a puncture, the spare wheel is under the van and is lowered on a wire, when lowered, a clamp needs to be undone. this was corroded and broken so, I had to remove the flat tyred wheel on a grass verge, and take the wheel to a local garage to get the tyre changed. On the replacement van, I made a point of lowering the spare on our drive, inspecting the spare tyre (which is new), checked the pressure and I lubricated the clamp, won’t get caught out again.
I haven’t had a spare tyre for 16 years and nor have I had a puncture or any tyre problems for 20 years. I didn’t care when the garage told me the emergency kit had expired since I know that I’ll have to call the emergency service anyway if there’s a puncture. I’ve never changed a wheel when I was on the road.
Recently I bought a small electric pump for bicycles and car tyres which I use at home to readjust pressure and like it.
