Just from my curiosity, how many members in here know what a Tube Screamer is and how deploying one or several has influenced today’s music scene?
Incidentally, I am an avid Ibanez guitar player :yes:

A desperate guess, is it a kind of effects pedal?
It is indeed a special effects pedal/switch. Before such an electronic device was developed, many electric guitarists would manually overdrive their amplifiers to obtain a kind of fuzzed or altered sound. The original tube screamer from Ibanez took care of this effect electronically with their Tube Screamer, then many other manufactures followed Ibanez’s lead. As soon as I obtained a circuit copy, I made my own + a few tweaks for even more choice of distortion

It was the Ibanez reference that vaguely clued me up!
Also I was chatting to a very accomplished musician buddy in my local recently. He’s in his eighties, in his eyes pedals are kind of gimmicky, a true musician could create ’ effects’ by using the dials on a guitar and playing technique.
But once again, I’m ignorant in these matters, couldn’t sing or play a note…
That is easier said than done for those of us not well into our 80’s. Age does to some extent limit speed of response + finger suppleness and IMO any electronic assistance is most welcome
