I started a new thread rather that return to the old one because that was getting very long and actually started off about a train. I hoped that was OK. To be honest getting the info is really easy as it is completely automated and I just have to copy and paste it from a text file into a message.

But here is some Covid news.

Yesterday Wollongong Hospital received 7 Covid patients from Liverpool Hospital which itself had an outbreak of the Delta strain. There were about 290 new cases in NSW yesterday and while this number is not increasing exponentially it is bubbling along at a steady rate. The Delta strain is a whole new ball game. Containment is not working like it used to, I wonder what they will do next?

Vaccination is the only game in town at the moment however there is a shortage of Pfizer - the Wollongong hub is booked out until September but there is plenty of AZ from GPs and Chemists.

At the Premier’s Press Conference this morning they had a Dr from one of Sydney’s ICU units. He said that normally patients are in ICU for about 3 days (ie cancer, road accidents etc) however Covid patients can be in ICU on a ventilator for up to 5 weeks before they can be transferred to either a Covid ward or Non Covid ward where they will stay often for many more weeks.

It was a very interesting talk (its on Youtube as part of the press conference )-too long to post here

Things in NSW go from bad to worse 460 new cases today. i was listening to an epidemiologist on the radio two days ago who said that by the end of the month there would be 1000 cases a day at current trends. Looks like he is right.

Penalties have been increased from $1000 to $5000 for breach of health orders ie being where you are not supposed to be or in a group of more than 2 etc.

Distances you are allowed to travel in Greater Sydney, Blue Mountains, Illawarra etc reduced to 5km from your home. So no more trips to Bunnings for me.
