Tips for growing old

When we had ducks…the eggs were really tasty and never too strong that people had suggested they would be…You have ducks in your garden and they do tend to wreck it but would be out weighed by the waddles that just make your smile so much…

I love duck eggs but get them from a friend

I wonder if it’s too late to change the thread title to “Tips for putting weight on”?

It’s your thread so you can do as you like :slightly_smiling_face: within reason

Many years ago I had three ducks and three geese wandering the garden, I didn’t find them too destructive their soft feet didn’t seem to damage plants. The geese were a bit of a grazing animal but seems quite selective eaters, I fed them on grain. They could fly but never seemed that interested.

I originally got them to get rid of the snails which they did very effectively. Love duck and goose eggs, I really enjoy the taste but it does vary depending on the season and they are not regular layers like hens.

I miss the ducks at my last house …they used to come into the garden and tap on the windows…the cats were scared to death of them  apparently the woman who bought my house is a bit of a sour puss so I expect they miss the treats I gave them.

Actually our Ducks rarely stopped laying eggs, the friend at the Chicken Farm was quite surprised as they normally do have periods of non-laying.
Ours could wreck an area, so we would let then use the front garden that was pretty big and then shut off and change to the back garden, we also put up a small long run on the next doors farmers land, just before his barbed wire fence.
They have to put up barbed wire when next to a private property.
We had a gate into his land and one day when we forgot to close it we had two rather large Cows stroll in…now they did tread down a few things and leave a calling card as well…doh. :poop:

I object to being expected to behave within reason, Minx. :018:

Any more tips to share Harbal

I don’t think growing old is a real thing she says, pondering…I mean, you get “old” young people, and “young” old people. So, perhaps its all in the mind. What is being old anyway…?

I suppose being closer to death is one characteristic of it. :coffin:

People seem more interested in apple crumble than in my tips. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Your gems of wisdom is almost most welcome Harbal

:hugs:

So it should be. :biking_man:

Don’t want a lot of restricted people, taking chances, that would be chaos. :biking_man:

I disagree. People old or young die. So that’s not it.

No matter what age you are, you are closer to death today than you were yesterday, unless you died yesterday, of course. That’s how I look at it. :102:

Death is a bit like LTP, do you really want to be last? :grinning: :biking_man:
